Reddit looks like it's fricking up or something...the format looks all weird (you have to scroll down a little bit to get to the post/story). Anyway, it's a six part series, and it's very entertaining IMO:

Part 1: Footsteps
Part 2: Balloons
Part 3: Boxes
Part 4: Maps
Part 5: Screens
Part 6: Friends

There's an old rundown elementary school in Jacksonville, FL known by simply as School No 4. It's no longer an active school, but there are a toooon of stories about the place. The building is rundown and has been marked for demolition and has been for years. I moved away a few years ago and it's possible it's been torn down since then. It was certainly still standing when I was in high school and some friends and I got the brilliant idea to check it out.

I don't remember the backstory of the school--something about a crazy, killer janitor or a school fire. I think the story is out there on paranormal sites, if any one wants to look it up. At any rate, I didn't see any ghost, but I do have a pretty chilling story to share.

My buddies and I (3 of us all together) rode down to the school and parked in some warehouse parking lot about a block or two from the building itself. There was a chainlink fence surrounding the building, but it was short and easy to get over. The front door was locked (of course), and the windows were boarded up, but someone had pried loose one of the boards on the furthest window on the right side of the school. Bolstered by teenage ego, we climbed in after some mutual prodding.

As you can imagine, entering an abandoned building is creepy as all get out. It's dark, you hear weird noises, and your mind fricks with you hardcore. There was a ton of grafitti so it was clear that we weren't the only idiots in town who decided to check the place out. A lot of the grafitti was just BS, but we came across things like "Run," and "It's coming for you." Obviously, a little unnerving, but it was surprisingly quiet for such an old building and none of us where expecting to see ghosts. To be honest, it was all pretty run-of-the-mill until one the guys sneezed up a storm after getting some dust of the railing of a stair case in his face. Right after that sneeze there was commotion coming from a classroom at the end of a hallway directly in front of us. It sounded like a couple of guys started arguing amongst themselves quietly followed by a quick "Shhhhh!!!" It become reeaaaal fricking obvious at that point that my friends and I were not the only ones in that building. We didn't stick around to explore. We freaked the frick out and got out that building as quick as we could, right back out that same window we climbed in through. We didn't stop running until we were back at the car. That was the end of that. As far as I know we were never spotted by the other party in the building and no one gave us chase, but we were definitely not alone.

A couple of years later, I was home for the summer and the local news ran a segment about the school. Evidently local police started to patrol the area around the school because people had been sneaking in and it was a condemned building. Here's the kicker--

Not only was there an issue with people sneaking in, but someone had been performing animal sacrifices in one of the classrooms. We're talking a makeshift altar at the head of the class with a bunch of bones littered on the floor next to it.

You can imagine the chills I got when I heard that. I never saw anything, and for all I know it was just a couple of dumbass kids sneaking around just like we were that night. Still, to think that I could have been in some creepy abandoned building at the same time as some freaks skinning dogs and cats scares the shite out of me to this day.

I ran too.

I ran until I was off of the side road and back onto a better lit road with sparse traffic. Looking behind me then, he was nowhere to be found. The rest of the way home, I kept glancing over my shoulder, always expecting to see his stupid smile, but he was never there.....

I lived in that city for six months after that night, and I never went out for another walk. There was something about his face that always haunted me. He didn't look drunk, he didn't look high. He looked completely and utterly insane. And that's a very, very scary thing to see

I run at the park as well... at night. Usually no one else there. Every time I still think of the fricking smiling dancing man from this story.

I made my wife read the cave story a few nights ago, ironically right before this thread got bumped. I could see the tension on her the whole time she was reading. She got like 3 hours of sleep that nite b/c shes naive. She spent most of the nite trying to find out if it was real while shitting her pants at every noise in the house.

That story was really well written.

Back in 2008 I got orders to Robins AFB. A couple of weeks after I arrived and picked up my vehicle that was shipped to me from my first duty location I was at Target buying some stuff around 9 at night. I got to my car, and closed my trunk and was met by a dude in a wheelchair. He went into a story of how he was stranded by some family on the side of the road and was just looking to get back to a bus station or something. I told him that I was just visiting family (lucky for me I still had my drivers license from when I was living in California), and I told him that I didn't know the area enough to take him anywhere. Nothing ever happened from the incident and I never saw anything in the news about him. Just a awkward situation all the way around.

Of course there is the story of the guy that broke into my house in the middle of the day about a year ago, but everyone has pretty much read about that one already.

That video sucks.

Setting is all wrong. Needs to be on a much smaller street, wet with recent rain in an old-city setting like London or Boston.

That thing looks set in the Woodlands and loses all scariness.

I'm not going through this entire thread, so someone that has read all the way through could maybe answer this: Has

a) USSR sleep deprivation experiment
b) the Spongebob lost episode story
c) Danny LaPlante story

been told yet?

I think that it's rather obvious that that is what the author was going for. Here is a more detailed version of the story, it picks up from the cliffhanger at page 15 The Fear of Darkness
Wow, that story got stupid quick. Wish I hadn't have read the stupid web page in the first place.

I did a search and saw someone had done the Spongebob one, which is pretty freaky, but not Danny LaPlante or the USSR one (which I may not do...its a little TOO fricked up), so here we go with the story of Danny LaPlante:

quote:

It's Townsend, Ma in 1987, I think. My parent's lawyer comes home from work to find his wife raped and shot to death in their bedroom and their two kids, boy 4 and girl 6, raped and drowned in bathtubs. When the news hit the next morning, there were no suspects. People were freaked out.

This was a huge thing in our town of 8,000 people. Nobody locked their doors. I remember my father putting deadbolts on that very afternoon. Everybody in school was scared shitless.

Then the next day came and we find out that the suspect was this 17 year-old kid Danny LaPlante. Every kid knew who that was. Among the Iron Maiden shirt wearing toughs, he was the one everyone was scared of because he seemed wrong. I remember his friends taunting a kid (mean, but harmless in retrospect) when Danny came out of nowhere and broke is arm. This was at recess. He was 13 at the time.

After finding out Danny was the suspect, we all went to school to find our middle school's gym taken over as FBI staging area.

Things got scarier the next day They couldn't find him. There were sightings. He did a home invasion and a carjacking in the town over but they still couldn't catch him. Word was that he knew the woods like the back of his hand and he was running around out there. That scared the shite out of me because our house was right against wilderness. That night I snuck down to the basement, grabbed my dad's machete and put it under my bed.

Finally, they caught him. And then the news came out with a scary-arse crime he committed when he was 15, but only served a little time in juvie for. This was the dude's prequel.

This girl, who had broken up with Danny two weeks earlier and hadn't seen him (weirdly know one had), was babysitting her sisters while her father was out and watching Nightmare on Elm Street. The kids started to notice weird things that night while they were watching the movie. They opened a box of Fiddle-faddle, took a little bowl, and went back to the movie. When they went back for more fiddle-faddle, the box was empty. In hindsight, they noticed how weird it was but had no conception of what was coming next.

The movie finished and the girls went off to change for bed. At the same time the dad came home. The youngest, 8 or so, was in her bedroom. She opened her closet and found Danny LaPlante standing there with a hatchet. He was dressed in her dead mothers clothes with make-up smeared on his face. He told her to be quiet and tied her up. He eventually tied up the whole family in the bedroom. He told them he was going to kill them, he'd be right back so start praying. The guess is he went to ransack valuables. Thankfully, the youngest was able to wriggle free. She jumped out of the neighbors house who called the cops before coming back over with a gun to free the family. He freed the dad and the daughters but didn't see LaPlante. Cops came and couldn't find LaPlante.

The family stays with relatives for two weeks to get away from the house. In that time nobody's found LaPlante. The family has to come home. They pull in their driveway see that motherfricker standing in the window. The father starts yelling. Neighbors come over. They surround the house. Cops come and search the house.

They don't find Danny but find a disturbing scene. Pennies are glued to the ceiling. Strange writings are on the wall. All of their clothes, furniture, and fricking everything had been jacked off on. But no Danny. They search the house. Nothing.

Nothing until a cop in the basement hears a noise coming from behind the washing machine. Cops rush in and pull the washing machine away from the wall and find a hole. In that hole is Danny.

Not only do they find danny but they find that since the girl broke up with him, he's been LIVING IN THE FAMILIES WALLS. They find peepholes everywhere.

So, being 15, they send him to juvie. He gets out in a year. Then he really does kill a family."

IIRC, both of these were mentioned.

Don't think that one has.

Proceed...

Also, I loved the cave story one...not sure why people are hating on that one. It was legitimately creepy (even if obviously not real).
