Definitely
Pretty sure that incident was what The Strangers was based on

I think me mom had the old hag one night. Except she said she dreamed her late grandmother was lying next to her, but she looked evil, and then she grabbed her throat.

It's considered by some to be the worst creepypasta ever.
So bad that it's become a meme.

My weird/creepy story happened when I was younger. I was very close to my grandmother and she passed away at 63 in February 2001. The loss hit my entire family very hard. My older sister has gone back and forth believing in the paranormal and since we all struggled to accept my grandma's death at such a young age, my sister was constantly looking for a sign that my grandma was still with us.
My sister's birthday is in May, so on the morning of her birthday the year my grandma died, she kept saying "I just want a sign that she's here with us." We didn't think anything of it since she had said stuff like this in the past, but it obviously hit close to home for us since my grandma's passing was still so fresh.
The night of her birthday, we went out for dinner and got back around 7 pm or so. Nothing unusual happened at dinner but it was when we got back that something strange happened. After we had birthday cake and settled down, we were all sitting in the living room together. Typically, my grandmother would have been over celebrating with us. Suddenly, the phone rings. When I was a kid, I loved trains and had a locomotive telephone that made the sound of locomotive roaring. I ran to my room to pick it up. "Hello?" I ask. No answer. "Hello? Who is this?" I continue.
Suddenly, I hear a garbled, otherworldy voice on the end "Arrahhhrahhgghh". Very hard to describe without hearing it, but very much non-human. At this point, my entire family is downstairs looking up at me at the top of the stairs on the phone wondering who is on the phone. I just look down at them, my eyes extremely wide and my face as white as a ghost's.
I even said "Grandma?" and then the line clicked. I get chills typing that to this day. What's next is even stranger. I told my family what had happened and they thought it was incredibly creepy in light of the "sign" my sister was looking for that grandma was with us on her birthday. So, my family says - "Dial *69 to see who called us. Maybe it was a prank."
I dial *69 and I about hit the floor when the response was "We're sorry, this number is outside the calling area."
I'll never know who or what called me that night, but we still like to think it was my grandma, saying one last happy birthday in the only way a deceased relative could.

I had never heard that 9/11 911 call. It's been stuck in my head for two days.
The cave story was good, but I think the ending kinda fell apart a bit. Still, mighty creepy and a fun read.
