Red Wing hiker style. Get on their machine that measures your foot for correct sizing.

Lightweight?
Composite toe, as strong and much lighter.
I have CAT brand, but DR Marten's are supposed to be very comfortable.
I have boots and sneaker style I prefer sneaker style.

$115
And the lightest work shoe with protection I've ever used.

Steel toes get cooold in the snow.
This is the only knock against steel toes. I've had both steel and composite of identical boots, and the steel are no heavier on a scale that measures 10ths of pounds.

On the flip side, don't wear composite toes if you're using a chainsaw.

OP, I wear boots pretty much all day every day of the week, and I use American-made Justins with the gel sole.

Btw, the only Red Wings that don't suck are their logging boots. Warren Buffet bought 90% of boot companies, and 98% of all boots are made in ching chong China now with shitty materials

As long as they meet ASTM F 2413-11 then you are good to go unless the plant has a height requirement for boots. A few of the paper mills that we work at require steel toe only because they don't understand the ASTM standard and they are taking the SOP literally because it was written before thee was anything besides steel toe.

Good to know. I'm sure it's the same way here as well...

So many people have square feet, it amazes me. I guess I'm behind evolution, because mine are round at the end

I had 2 pairs of nice wolverines, each lasting about 5 years. Great boots, but the inside got ripped up by my heel over time.
Got a pair of ariats about 2 years ago and love them.
Wear them everyday and do a good bit of walking.

Recently switched from Wolverine to Timberland Pro and I don't think I'll ever use another brand. And I've run the gamut on all other ones too. Timberland Pro no doubt.

Do they have to be steel toe? Composite toe shoes will meet ANSI standard, be lighter and won't conduct heat/cold.

I have to second the Dr. Martins, last forever and I find them very comfortable. I bought some recently on sale on Amazon for 60 bucks normally 120.

I haven't found quality like Dr. Martins in any of the other brands, IMHO

I got 2 pairs of boots and a steel toe pair of reeboks

Definitely check out the steel toe reeboks. They're super comfy, lightweight and also have composite types if that's what you want too
