This isn't even remotely correct. The last algorithm you use is the same as the first one and its a 4 move algorithm that you use either 1 or multiple times depending on how mixed up your cube was to start.
There are 7 algorithms you use that range from 4 moves to 9 moves. Some of them you may have to do multiple times. But it's the same algorithm over and over. The 7 algorithms are used to solve the different sections. Like one poster earlier said you start with the first face corners, then the middle section, then a cross, the the corners for the next layer, etc. The poster that said the center square is the color of that side was correct. You can't move the center square.

Certainly not something you just figure out by playing with it. Learned it recently while waiting for a meeting to start and using the guide on the Rubiks Cube website.

Yeah I tell people that if you just play it with it and solve it, they you unknowingly did the algorithms and you didn't know it. But that's so extremely unlikely

Learned to solve one very quickly. Strictly algorthms. Takes a about 10 minutes or so to learn each one. About eight you need to know.
That is the basic solve.

They algorithm is on the internet, my 14 year old son solved it twice last night. I have been trying since 1985 without any luck! LOL

For me, the algorithms became more about muscle memory than memorizing the actual moves, if that makes any sense. So I could 'feel' the algorithm rather than consciously thinking about which way to turn it.

My method takes a minute or so usually.

I've never practiced enough to get fast. Just always been a casual solver. Fast time was around 2:45

My documented record is 24 seconds and only because several patterns fell into place during the process of solving it which almost never happens

seemed like the craze had actually died down by then too be honest. I had a poster of the solution on the wall in my room because i was a sad little 16 year old. Hadn't solved it months prior to the world's Fair so i was actually pretty rusty when they called people from the audience to come up.

Yea I looked at it briefly and just remember it being really long. It repeats but it is a bunch of moves.
I learned it for that one time and haven't picked up one since.
