Wife (no pics, but she's petite as you can see by the coat size) won an auction on this one and wanted to confirm it was real, figured the experts on here can verify.

The biggest thing is usually does the stitching line up. They are all made by hand and someone lines up the stitching at the intersections.

If the stripes don’t line up across sections it is machine made. Pic 2 looks like the stitching lines up.

What did your wife pay for it? New, it's probably a $2000 jacket.

Does it matter how much it cost if it's ugly.

Burberry does an insanely good job with their stitching. If anywhere on the coat the stitching looks cheap or just one layer it is fake. Burberry has intricate multi layer stitch patterns

She put in a bid that wouldn't be the end of the world if it turns out to be fake. She still researched the tells (stitching, tag quality, pattern) before she placed her bid and felt confident enough, just wanted another opinion.

She doesn't need a certificate of authenticity. It's not a piece of art, it's a jacket. Does it feel good and look good?

Clothing items are extremely personal & subjective.

Sorry but we’re really going to need some pics of her in it, probably in only in her bra and panties so we can correctly ascertain how it will hang with various clothing materials.

Look, she married YOU, I’m sure you can easily convince her of this rationale.

TIA

Real. My wife has collected Burberry for years says it’s genuine. Her aunt is a frequent visitor to London and as a consequence has an eye for this stuff.

I can tell you it’s made before 1999, that’s when they changed their name to Burberry.
The size should be inside the flap of one of the pockets.

Need close up photos of the buttons.

They look a slight tint off.

Who would pay $2k for that? What makes it special besides a label?

People who aren't bothered by spending $2k on a jacket. Burberry makes nice, quality stuff. Not stuff I'm gonna buy for the money, but nice nonetheless.

Here's a link that I found with a quick Google on how to spot fake Burberry coats:
LINK

Judging from tip number 2 there, it seems you may have a fake. They mention the horse and give a picture of the tag and looks nothing like yours. But Burberry tags are in an all caps font. Yours isn't.
quote:

Check that “Burberry” is written on the tag in large, capital letters. All 8 letters will be the same size and centered in the middle of the label. If the stitching doesn’t look uniform, or if the letters are lowercase, then the coat is likely a fake.[3]

Some coats may have a logo of a knight riding a horse.[4]

Nevermind. I guess it could be old. I was thinking it was a new jacket. Yeah they changed their tags in '99 from "Burberrys'" to "BURBERRY". If it's old, could be real. If new, no way.
