I pay $40 for an oil change, if I bring my own stuff its $20. Well worth it in opinion.

My wife brought a fancy birthday cake to Texas De Brazil. Not trying to save money but because she wanted a birthday cake for me. She not only spent whatever on the cake but Texas De Brazil charged us $6 per slice of cake for them to cut and serve. Now the restaurant made out like a bandit on that one.

The value and profit is not airways they same thing. Mcdonald value is a assuicbk meadm, but the profit is in selling drinks.
Also why is it ok to pay Advanced auto and update for oil but not the oil change place. Advanced is a good 30% higher on oil prices than walmart

Because they have a storefront and laborers to pay. By bringing your own oil, you've changed their business model. They can't charge your for the labor only because they need to make a profit from the parts too. If you want to pay more in labor to compensate, then I guess that could be acceptable. But, at that point you'll likely be paying what they are asking anyway for the turnkey service.
You realize this is like asking to bring a steak to Chris' to broil, right?
