Need A New Toilet-Plumbing Warehouse VS Big Box Store?

Need a new toilet. I'm basically set on a Kohler Cimarron comfort height, elongated toilet. It was between that or an American Standard Champion 4Max. Decided on Kohler b/c plumber said he considered them better made.
Ok, so my cousin is a new construction plumber and can buy me a toilet from a plumbing supply warehouse or I can buy from Home Depot. I know with faucets, the fixtures bought from plumbing supply warehouses are better made(don't use plastic parts like big box store faucets). Is this the same for toilets? Someone else told me the toilet is the exact same, but will be cheaper at a plumbing supply place b/c you only get the toilet itself and not the wax ring, bolts, etc that come with the consumer retail packaging at Home Depot. Is this true? I'm installing myself so will need wax ring, bolts etc.

Wut. If you buy the same Kohler faucet from Lowes or your local mom and pop plumber supply its the same exact shite.
Sounds like a myth propagated by struggling small business owners

The mom and pop may not sell all the parts that come with it and only commode itself. That is possible. I bought mine at Home Depot. It comes with the kit. Very easy to install. Just find the cheapest price and make sure it comes with a kit.

I've been told by several plumbers that the Kohler faucet from Lowe's or Home Depot etc has plastic parts while the same faucet from a plumbing supply place will have brass parts. They don't use the same exact part # even though its the same faucet otherwise. For instance, the HD faucet might be KOH-10273 but the same faucet from a plumbing supply place would be KOH-10272. Supposedly it's b/c the big box stores need to hit certain price points, so the mfr cuts corners by offering plastic parts.

Get a Toto. I spent about three weeks researching and making my decision, and have been 100% happy with my Toto Drake. I'm pretty sure I could flush a pair of Jordans down that bitch if I wanted to
Eta: I got mine off of Amazon for about a bill fiddy cheaper than anywhere local

I don't know if this is true for plumbing but it's definitely true for other things like lawnmowers.
To answer the OP, go with Toto toilet. The 2 I have are 10 years old and the only thing that had to be replaced was a flapper on one of them.

It's the same exact thing but one is packaged for retail (upc and all on the box) and one for wholesale.
Used to work for a distributor.

Because the plumber gets a kickback and discount from mom and pop for saying that and buying supplies there

What made you think of the shoes OJ said he never wore and were hideous, but in fact, did wear in one picture? How did your mind make it to that point from me saying I could flush some Jordans?

It's simply a wonderful gift to the world, I can't begin to explain it or understand it.

It should be easy enough to open up both faucets and check the parts.

Go by model number
K-3609 is the number on Kholers website for the water closet you are referencing. If the one at lowes or homedepot is the same 4 digit number it's the same fixture. If a different number then different components
Baton Rouge area, you have southern pipe, Coburns, or LCR for fixtures
In New Orleans you can try southern pipe, Ferguson, southlNd ext

How do you remember that OJ shite when you've said a few times your memory was fried?

Yeah, so, I ran a Plumbing website. I can guarantee you that the mom and pop shop, Home Depot, and Amazon all get the toilet from the same location. In fact, Home Depot owns warehouses that most eCommerce sites fulfill through.
Also, no difference between Kohler's and American Standard's products. Toilets are toilets when it comes to the big brands.

Good price here if you get it in white.

lolno
If you look at the serial numbers the ones at Home Depot or Lowe's will be different even though the model numbers are the same as what's sold at supply stores.

Same is true with some Light Fixtures as well.
