Have a 14 year old car with some potentially expensive repairs needed and don’t want to spend the money on it. But also don't desperately need to buy a new/used one now if the ridiculously high market for cars is going to cool in the next 6-12 months. What do y’all think?

They should come down a little.
Then again we’ve been for 1.5 years that the bottom of the new car market was about to fall out

Nope, but I have noticed that used car inventory is starting to grow more and prices coming down somewhat due to people not being able to pay their car notes.

The used car market will see an uptick in inventory as more and more people miss payments.

Have you seen the new car lots? They empty. Empty!

A low supply of cars usually don't mean low prices. Some manufactures have cut production.

So don't expect car prices to be coming down anytime soon.

Used cars prices will probably come down before new cars.

Frankly, I would make it a second job to find a good used car. Old people die. shite happens and people need to get rid of their car quick. Just be on the lookout and ready to pounce.

If you are OK with MSRP, then you can get that easily on a normal model.

If you are willing to expand your search zone, the volume dealers are even doing under MSRP and even under invoice.

The place I got my Jeep at years back is still rocking cheap stuff

quote:

Koons Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram is proud to announce the return of the DC Group Buy for 2022!

Wrangler 392 $8000 Off MSRP

All other Jeeps are 6% below invoice.

$10,000 off MSRP or 11% below MSRP whichever is greater on the TRX

DODGE is at 6% below Invoice with the exception of Super Stock which is 5% below invoice. Jailbreaks are not included due to allocation restraints.

ALL ORDERS ARE 100% PRICE PROTECTED!!

Plus your states tax, tags and $899 Processing Fee.

The above is on orders only, now is not the time to buy off lot anyways.

I've been watching this You Tube channel by a former car dealer and his son.

Used car wholesale prices are dropping and I'm waiting until next year.

Yup, they are. New car supply has been increasing slowly and this is producing an increase in used. The people that had to have a new/used car and willing to pay premium has peaked as well.

Now demand wanes with the recession that is not happening (Biden said so)

Thinking about downsizing into a Camry or Corolla since 98% of my driving is on paved city streets, but the prices are still too high...especially for a sedan.

This is all part of a huge marketing gimmick that has roped in a lot of people.
Nobody knows what invoice really is.

I want (don't necessarily need) a new truck. Mainly just wanting to downsize. My 2016 F150 only has 50k miles. Should I go for something now while the used/trade in prices are still up? Thinking if I wait, I may get much less on my trade in, but MSRP won't change on what I'm wanting to buy.

Supply should increase and with the recession and gas prices demand shouldn’t outpace the supply growth so prices should correct down some.

Maybe not sticker prices but the ridiculous dealer mark-ups over MSRP should go away.

I have noticed some trucks are starting to have some pretty big rebates. Below MSRP. Don’t know about cars.
