The one I have is handcrafted by DJ Ramirez. It weighs a ton and is purple and gold. Not sure what kind of wood was used but one has a natural purplish hue and the other yellow. I've never used it.

Bought this bamboo one at Costco for like $15(it's on amazon now for like $25). I like being able to use the different plastic mats depending on what I'm cutting(veggies, meats, etc). Very easy to clean. Can just take plastic mat off board to easily transfer cut items as well. You buy more replacement mats separately as well.

Buy the large ceramic tile squares at Lowe's or Home Depot. I'm too cheap to buy something expensive for cutting shite on.

Make your own. It's a simple, fun, and rewarding project.

Absolutely terrible for your knives.

I have had several boards over the years. My favorite is the large Oxo Good Grips model. It has the blood moat on one side. Fits just right in the racks over the oven where we keep baking sheets and such. Pretty much indestructible.
I have the smaller one as well, but the big one gets pulled out for almost every cook.

Yes, I'm wrong my bad...the last three restaurants I've worked for decided to move away from them of their own volition... but they are not necessarily an issue for most municipalities...
Still prefer plastic...wood is harder to clean

My nice ones never get used because it's a bitch to clean and oil them.
