My legion ball coach told us a story about his training before deploying to Vietnam. He was given a live chicken and taught to rip the head off to suck out as much blood as possible for nutrients then pop the breast meat out and eat that raw. They told them something like the chickens over there were wild so salmonella wasn’t really an issue and you couldn’t risk Charlie spotting the fire you’d have to make for cooking it.

If that baw thinks raw chicken will get you ripped, then he needs to try the Raw Louisiana Special. Nothing better than raw coon, opossum, or armadillo. Ever wondered how some of them Cajuns looked like they’ve been hitting the gym since birth? That’s why

It's my understanding that all the processing, handling, and machinery are what introduce the bacteria into foods like chicken. I think it you went out to the yard, slaughtered one, and then went to town on it's leg you'd be fine.

Way different situation, your coach's life depended on him doing that.

I feel like I'm not a picky eater at all but raw chicken isn't something that I find appealing

There is a report claiming that a Chinese man nearly died when his entire body was taken over by tapeworms after he ate contaminated sashimi, or slices of raw fish. The man, said to be from the Guangdong Province, went to the hospital complaining of stomach pains and x-rays showed tiny parasites crawling throughout every inch of his body. Apparently his sashimi contained tapeworm eggs.

Chicken can be eaten raw depending on how it is raised. Maybe he is growing his own

a half-pound of raw, unsalted butter
Might be harder for me than raw chicken and I love butter.
How do you just eat that butter straight? Does he rub it on the meat? I'm confused by his tactics.
