Or I’m not a hillbilly piece of shite that feeds my family low grade dog food. Good dressing alone costs like $25 to make. That’s just one dish.
Stale bread/cornbread, a couple veggies (onion, celery, garlic), homemade turkey stock, some herbs. That doesn’t cost $25
You must suck at shopping or cooking

ahh, is that a new step we’re adding.
buy the cheapest ingredients available
and/or find a deep discount on ingredients
and/or purchase ingredients weeks in advance.
the goalposts just keep moving…

I’d bet our prison system charges the taxpayer more than $58 per 10 inmates for a jail dinner.

At Kroger, the Turkey Thanksgiving meal is $90.00. The ham one is $85.00. But it says it only feeds 5-7 people!

None of y'all do this?
A frozen turkey will last two years in the freezer. Usually the day before and for a few days after T-Day there are massive price drops on turkey so I always get one for the next year. I do the same thing w/all my meats. Get them on sale and toss them into the freezer until needed.
A $150-$200 freezer will save you thousands if you know how to shop.

sure we do.
but to pretend that method of obtaining a turkey for that price for the sake of this discussion is absolutely asinine.

I just find it odd you complained about planning ahead as if it's some giant burden when it's something everyone should know how to and be doing for pretty much all aspects of their life.

I wouldn't know what to do without my deep-freezer. Costs about $7/mo to run and saves atsleat $100/mo in food costs.

So anyone buying yesterday or today is going to spend more than $58.

That's about right for 10 Swanson frozen Turkey Dinners.

$58 for a family of 10? Are they having spaghetti for Thanksgiving?
