Damn.
Damn 12 a day? If I smoke 3 a week it’s a lot.

Lotta good feels in the story.
Even some good ole race baiting by Obama, never one to waste a good opportunity to twist a nice situation into a racial issue:
Godspeed Overton.

The nation’s oldest living veteran, Richard Overton, has died in a rehab facility in Austin, Texas. He was 112 years old.
He gave credit to God for his longevity, but he always said cigars and whiskey helped.
“I been smoking cigars from when I was 18 years old, I’m still a smoking ‘em. 12 a day,” he said.

Obama honored Overton in front of thousands in Washington. "His service on the battlefield was not always matched by the respect that he deserved at home. But this veteran held his head high," Obama said.

I feel like saying I'm a World War 2 Veteran is synonymous with saying I'm actually a legit badass so don't frick with me.
There are very few titles more prestigious and full of glory than that of a World War 2 veteran on the winning side.

Valhalla
This is stupid. First off, Valhalla is for people who die in battle who Oden wants in his fight, not for those who die of old age. Additionally, Valhalla wasn't guaranteed even if you did die in battle... I don't get everyone's obsession with this stupid pagan crap. We aren't Vikings.

One could be a bit more discerning. Millions of the 16 million that served never went overseas, or overseas to a combat zone or if in a combat zone never got near combat.

Skimming through past articles on him I don’t see anything of him mentioning disrespectful treatment at home. Was Austin a hotbed of racism in that time period?
I’m certain that Obama would never fabricate or exaggerate racial issues, so maybe there’s some other reference I’m missing.
Of course, when honoring an American veteran it’s always important to shite on America a bit, wouldn’t want anyone to forget about racism in their patriotic glee.
