I just read that the NG has arrived in Minneapolis and other cities. Will they be armed? I read that WA state governor sent 200 NG troops to Seattle, but unarmed. WTF?

ETA:I meant to put this on the political forum.

The ones I saw already deployed in MN had their M4s.

Don't forget the ones that are armed but have no bullets.

Naw, those guys and gals certainly have my respect. But as for the question, not that I know a damn thing about a damn thing, but I'm guessing that it depends on what detail they're on. Crowd control and related security, probably so. Clean up/logistics, perhaps not.

During the L.A. riots they got 15 bullets in 3 magazines. 5 per magazine.

Was the national guard the ones that were shooting at people sitting on their front porch?

In some of the pics I’ve seen so far, they had their rifles but no mags inserted. I would hope, hope they had adequate supply in the humvees should it be needed.

I haven't seen any pics but hopefully they're carrying ammo pouches.

Did they look like this?

We all laugh at Barney Fife, but look at that trigger discipline. Cylinder open and empty, bullet in other hand, and he still has his booger hook off the bang switch.

It depends on the governor of each state. He/She can set the arming posture of the National Guard for their state.

Solid observations indeed.

The National Guard is for transportation of supplies, and humanitarian aid.
