The "Star-Spangled Banner" could soon be required before all athletic events at taxpayer-supported venues in Louisiana under a proposal that is close to clearing the legislature.

Sen. Sharon Hewitt (R-Slidell) sponsored the bill that would apply to the Superdome, Tiger Stadium and various other public arenas and facilities.
quote:

"No competitive athletic event may be held in a venue, the construction, operation, or maintenance of which is financed wholly or partially by the state or a political subdivision of the state, unless the contest is preceded by the playing or singing of the national anthem," the current version of the bill reads.
The state Senate only needs to concur with a minor amendment the House of Representatives added Wednesday before Hewitt's proposal advances to the governor's desk. And here we gooooooo

It’s sad that they have to fight for things like this, but in today’s America, I’m glad they are.

Who’s fighting against it? The national anthem is already played before all of the sporting events in those venues

Are you though?

You know who mandates pride? People like the Commie chinese and the North Koreans with their pictures of dear Leader in their dens.
(Although now that I think about it, the alphabet mob mandates “pride” as well, makes you think.)

Something forced on you, especially something like pride, really doesn’t mean a thing.

Improving any of those things would require actual work and intelligence. Why bother with all that when you can just throw out red meat surrounding cultural issues? It's a fast, easy way to make sure that no one runs to your right in the primary election, and your district is probably gerrymandered to the point that those are the only elections you need to worry about.
