Forest and rolling hills, barely anyone on the road, cruise set to 58, no stop signs, no open container law in Mississippi, windows down, Skynyrd on

How are the roads? Condition-wise.

There’s no one else out here so if you see a cyclist you just give them their 6 inches of clearance and go around them.

I miss New Mexico because of this, 2 million people with 78 million acres. Do the math. You could drive/hike/camp and see nobody.

Comparison, Louisiana has 29 mil with 4 million population.

It is!

I am driving to Richmond, VA in a few days to speak and I am thinking about doing 100 miles on The Blue Ridge Parkway. If I do I will report back.

Blue Ridge Parkway spanks Natchez Trace on the arse but the terrain is an apples to oranges comparison.

Yes the Trace is great. We camped at Rocky Springs for many years when the kids were young Very peaceful pace. I drove the entire trace to Nashville once and if you are not in a hurry it is a great trip.

Having a road beer on some rural highway is one of life's simple pleasures.

Miller high life. Just passed an old man on his bike with no shirt on going the other way.

You could probably drive around drunk 24/7 in Baton Rouge and never get pulled over

I take it up to Muscle Shoals a lot. The only drags are:
- next to no cell service (if you are streaming music or podcasts)
- you’re boned if you break down, especially at night.

I imagine having to drop a dookie on that route would be bad too. Otherwise it’s great.

Depends on the time of year.

I’ve seen RVs on that damn road with 10+ cars trying to pass.

Sounds like there's nobody around. Just carry an emergency roll.
