So what would NASCAR’s hiring practices would look like without the programs?

I don’t know what their hiring practices will look like, but at least it won’t discriminate against people based on the color of their skin :)

I followed NASCAR once for about 4 races into a season because someone I knew got a fantasy NASCAR league up. It was like a $5 entry fee, I followed the first 4 races then I just started going look at the board every week to see my ranking. Everyone picked 3 drivers, no one could have the same three. I didn't win. NASCAR sucks

I think that is the problem, people don't know and immediately start sky screaming. NASCAR in this example is an incredibly white sport. So white that one can count the number of minority and female participants on both hands for a 75 year old company. There is no shortage of white interns and participants for NASCAR. This internship and opportunity is specifically for a diversity program that is solely created so that NASCAR can achieve ESG scores that many of their sponsors and partners require of them. It is not NASCAR only hiring any interns based on X, but rather an outreach because they have no diverse applicants and are trying to get those applicants. This whole thread is people getting upset because the thread title is disingenuous and they have no context for this particular internship or why it even has to exist.

Hey tard, it's facially discriminatory. Reach out all you want. Institutionally, you can't create a program and tell people that they're ineligible for it based on their race.

As another poster pointed out in a previous thread:

Situations like this are devilishly nefarious, because the powers pushing these corporations/brands into woke-ism will win either way it plays out, because destruction of the business is also an acceptable outcome, as that means one less representation of conservative or the non-woke.

Go woke and survive: they win.
Go woke and go out of business: they win.

It's like NASCAR is purposely trying to kill their business by alienating their core audience.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. If zero white people paid any attention to NASCAR at all for one week, it would fold immediately.

It appears far from the case.

They've attracted drivers from around the globe to participate in races this year, including the Australian Supercar champ, who is looking to join NASCAR full-time.

They may have a race in Montreal next year, and there have been reportedly talks about other international races.

They just signed a deal with Netflix for a docuseries about this year's playoffs.

Hell, there are rumors that a Days Of Thunder sequel is in the works.

NASCAR does a lot of stupid shite, but they somehow manage to keep carrying momentum for themselves. It'll be interesting to see what they get from the next media rights deal.

I can't decide who the more annoying snowflakes are the progressives or the conservatives. So many sensitive babies today that get upset over shite that has absolutely no effect on them. Companies have stakeholders and giant deals that require them to be mindful of their ESG score, so they create roles and positions to ensure they remain in a good light. A sport who's most diverse driver up until a few years ago was a guy who is 1/8 Korean and landed a ride through the diversity program. I could imagine that business may need to make some special positions in order to add any diversity at all.

Blah blah blah….. you’re a fricking moron

answer this for me genius:

Why does nascar HAVE TO hire anyone of a certain skin color? Why can’t they focus on hiring the best, most qualified person for whatever position is available?

Also, and please tell the truth here, what would the reaction be nationwide (specifically on Twitter) if it were posted that NASCAR had to hire a white person for a specific job?

An event started by white bootleggers has now gone politically correct.

Eventually they will be done.

What I’m wondering is do any of these companies who do this have an HR or legal department review these programs before they roll them out? Even a 1st year attorney knows this won’t fly.

That has always been my question as well.

Talk about "systemic racism" - the only systemic racism that seems to be on the books and allowed and applauded is when white people are not allowed to apply for jobs are cant be hired for a job to reach a govt issued quota.

Not a single leftist has an answer to that.

Society functions better as a meritocracy. If your race isnt up to the challenge or does not qualify for those positions in most case, maybe take a look at your culture and how you raise your kids instead of blaming others.

My thoughts are why? What are you hoping to accomplish? While slots may be limited, it’s a very specific internship that attracts a very specific person. NASCAR isn’t the Mayo Clinic with tens of thousands of college kids across the country fighting to score a coveted internship. While there is nothing wrong with trying to grow your brand among different demographics, alienating your core base of support by purposefully excluding is just bad business

This is the issue and why I said both sides are so ate up with it that it has become annoying. You and the other poster(s) to respond immediately started with quips and name calling before attempting to discuss the topic.

I am a Christian, Conservative, White Male, and can agree their are concerted efforts to try and bypass that group and almost criminalize that group by some in this day and age.

I am also aware enough of the world around me to realize when certain companies are only doing programs in an effort to remain viable in a day and age where ESG scores go a long way as to how dollars influx into your business. It's not that NASCAR in this instance is trying to limit white male applicants. It is quite literally an outreach program that is for a part time hourly position that they highlight as part of an overall program to check boxes so companies continue to drop Millions into the sport annually without it effecting their ESG score for suppliers/vendors so that their boards don't see NASCAR partnership as a negative they can easily cut.

I see this program for what it is, and what it has been for a decade or more. Notice how a lot of big brands and names left the sport of NASCAR?! Boards, especially those with International (especially European) influence started taking their dollars and moving to more diverse platforms. NASCAR had to adapt to keep others from leaving as well, and in order to try and attract others. It's not some boogeyman coming after white people. It's just a program as part of a 10-week summer internship that NASCAR can use to prop up their company diversity when a company asks about their ESG score and diversity when they are discussing partnership so a board full of purple haired they/thems doesn't axe it.
