I don't believe they said that. What they most likely stated was that the planet was in the "habitable zone" of it's star...meaning conditions should be suitable for liquid water and, possibly, life.

My ex girlfriend was the same way. So I'd always bring up the concept of black holes, supernovas, etc.
Like if the sun did something that is beyond our comprehension, certain pressures in space lined up and the sun exploded taking out everything in an instant.
And everything that ever was, was no more..and no life out there if there is any will know we ever were. It's probably happened millions of times before.
It's going to happen one day anyways. When the sun is a red giant and has expanded. All these things we do..like bury the dead, build monuments. It's all ash one day.
Everything returns to equal when it's ash.

You are assuming they are watching us with our current tech. No telling what those guys, assuming they are 1.5 billion years more advanced, have cooked up.

I have no problem with studying and investigating other planets. It just freaks me out that the realization of exactly how small we really are out there. That doesn't mean I don't want them to keep investigating. Hell, I've read the articles and have been following this thread so obviously I am intrigued by it.

No one said it has water and no one said it is habitable. They said it is possible based on the distance from the star.
