If they are actually looking at us from there, then they most certainly are seeing us from 600 AD. They may have tools to get a better image than us, but it's most certainly an ancient image of us.

There could be massive "dinosaurs" on this planet. I use "dinosaurs" for lack of any other term.

It has twice our mass, so things weigh twice as much than here. Any animals would would likely need to be very strong and massive to handle that environment.

Light only travels so fast! They probably would think we're a bunch of stone throwing sword fighting idiots

If they looked down now, they'd probably see Muhammad sacking a village.

We don't know it's mass yet. That is much more complicated and will probably be a while before we can calculate that with any certainty.

Figuratively, yes.
But around 600 AD we literally were that lol

They said it a few times on the call. That at first, it looked like it had 1.1 times the mass of earth, but with better analytics were able to find it was close to twice as massive with a radius 50% larger, hence why they believe it to be rocky.

Would be scary if we dropped on the surface, and saw lizards 180' tall. Or snakes 60' long.

Can you link any sources? I didn't listen to the presser, but zero sources are listing it's mass. Even the NASA write up on it says they don't know it's mass, but it's diameter is 60% larger than Earth's.

LINK

quote:

Jenkins said that Kepler-452b is thought to be a rocky planet, with a size that implies it’s about five times as massive as Earth. The force of gravity at the surface would be about twice Earth’s gravity, which Jenkins said would be a challenge for visiting Earthlings – “but only for a few weeks while we walked around and lost some serious pounds,” he joked.

Well, that's part of the job description when it comes to sacking a middle eastern village.

These numbers aren't adding up.. If it's diameter is 60% larger than earth and it is five times more massive, how can it only have twice the gravitational force? If these numbers were correct, g on that planet would be about 7-8 times larger than g here. NASA still says they don't know the mass or composition so I'm gonna roll with that until better info comes along lol

I don't know where the author got "5 times as massive"... that's not what I heard. I think (s)he's confusing mass with volume.
