I’m assuming they wouldn’t cut those feeds upon launch?

I bet they would.

If something happened, I doubt they want public footage of the disaster in the cockpit.

No huge nefarious plot, apparently they just decided to take advantage of the best weather window and ended up touching down at 05:57 AM Eastern time in darkness. Seemed like it would have been a much bigger deal if it had been carried live during the middle of the day.

Hmm, I wonder if they could put a short delay on it. I recall that Red Bull space jump that guy did a few years ago. I believe that was a live or slightly delayed feed.

Unfortunately there are very tight and very specific launch windows. Today's was one such that it was launch exactly on time or do not launch at all. If they tried to delay 10 minutes or an hour they would not have been in position to achieve a trajectory that would get them to the station.

Because of orbits and shite, the next moment they could launch to actually get to the station with a reasonable amount of fuel and time isn't until Saturday.

Yeah, science!

I was talking about a delay on the live feed from inside the cockpit in case something catastrophic happened.

Anyone can help me with why fuel can’t stay on the ship?

It’s generally bad practice, which a lot of others touched on.

But in addition, the real reason unique to SpaceX as to the reason why:

Most rockets keep the cryogenic fluid at their boiling point. The venting gas from the old shuttle tank? Oxygen. It is constantly replenished until right before launch.

But SpaceX has additional problems. Not only do they want to economically launch payloads, they want to have enough remaining fuel to facilitate a controlled descent and landing for reuse.

To do this, they keep the oxidizer near it’s freezing point rather than it’s boiling point.

This yields 10% greater fuel economy, but due to the inability to sustain it at those cold temps, they must defuel the rocket and refuel RIGHT before launch.

Dam son, the AP article about the scrub (that I’ll post below) might not be as cool as I thought after reading what you posted.

Well anyway,

Let’s try this again! Here we go. 50% chance of launch today.

If cancelled today, tomorrow is another window and looks very favorable.

Yeah they showed a countdown clock a few minutes ago and it said 3:23 and some change was left.

Really hope the weather holds and this goes off today.

I'm watching the convoy on the way to the launch pad. Question: why the armored vehicle? Just anti-terror security or what?
