Is that something the fact that they're women?

They couldn't send two women anyway. It would be curtains for the ISS.

Years of quotas and diversity for the sake of diversity.

So you are just taking anecdotal evidence and making an assumption not based on any facts.

Today I learned that spacesuits come in different sizes.

How much money was wasted on training and fitting this woman for that EVA suit, and some dork forgot to pack the suit in the cargo,

By NASA standards, not much. Their training mostly consists of dressing, undressing, and trying on exciting underwear. The real issue was with the number of suitcases the women were going to need and the amount of payload the rest of the crew needed for the mission.

Those go in the suitcases.

Stick to the cockpit and let us baws handle payload, flyboy.

Geniuses of NASA at work. How much money was wasted on training and fitting this woman for that EVA suit, and some dork forgot to pack the suit in the cargo, and what's worse no one else bothered to check. This lack of attention to detail is why things go boom at NASA.

I used to work ISS Flight Control (1998 to 2003) and I knew the inventory folks and the EVA folks. I am quite surprised that this oversight happened.

However, there is zero chance this contention is true: "some dork forgot to pack the suit in the cargo, and what's worse no one else bothered to check". Really, there is no chance that happened, that way.

One reason the inventory folks do such a good job, was lessons learned from the Soviet/Russian Mir Space Station. They did not track inventory well, and it led to major disorganization. More often than not, they'd not be able to find something, then send up two more, then find the five they already had, and next thing you know, Hoarders wants to film at Mir.

I am curious to know the oversight that led to the EVA snafu today. Heck, there is probably a spreadsheet that lists EVAs planned for the next eight months. cross-references all suits and accessories, and if there is a missing item for a crew member, a red box flashes on the spreadsheet. And that Excel file was probably used as-is since 2000.

If I wanted to brag, I'd tell you what an astronaut told everyone about my gumbo, at the U.S. Embassy's dacha, not too far from Moscow, during a winter party.
