Is it true SpaceX has never been into lunar orbit? Weird nasa gets credit for things they openly admit they're not trying to do, while SpaceX gets credit for being able to easily do things they've never done.

How do you even define affordable for something like this
Affordability comes from reusability. Musk has figured that out. It is one of the many reasons Democrats hate him. Efficiency is blasphemous to Progressives. To them, the ends are less important than the means and their equitible distribution.

SpaceX can easily do something it's never done before -- hell, never even tried before. Consider me impressed.

So they would be at $23 Billion in development costs to get us four years down the road? Seems like a deal when you consider military spending on the F-35 program, which is admittingly not apples to apples.
$1.7 Trillion for the F-35
$1.7 Trillion for the F-35

The US government stated in the 90s we don’t have the technology anymore to reach the moon. All the supposed footage looks either CGI, has air pockets ascending, insects on gear, or has particles defying the theoretical laws of moon gravity. I would conclude that it is unaffordable because it is unattainable.

But they can give a Bajillion dollars to Ukraine to be laundered back to themselves

Much more easily and cheaply than the government can. That’s for sure.

Link? Because as far as I know it’s not the plan.

Human Landing System
NASA awarded SpaceX the contract to ferry astronauts from the SLS to the lunar surface with the Starship.

What are they saying about Ukraine?
Exactly.. What purpose do they really solve? There have been reports of hundreds of millions if not billions of $$$ that have been unaccounted for in Ukraine, and other places, yet no one is held to account for the missing money and they continue to send more. All funding for Ukraine should stop immediately until every dollar has been accounted for..

In addition to the nearly $12 billion already spent developing the SLS rocket, NASA asked for more than $11 billion in its most recent budget request to fund the program for the next four years, according to the report.
Better the money going to NASA than Ukraine.

Instead of explaining, I'll post some quotes from space.com. Hopefully you'll learn that a major part of the "unaffordability" includes contracts to SpaceX. Maybe you'll even learn that the first major delay will likely be caused by SpaceX.
quote:
NASA is worried that SpaceX's giant new Starship vehicle won't be ready to carry astronauts to the surface of the moon in late 2025, as currently planned.
quote:
In 2021, the agency selected Starship — the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built — to be the first crewed lunar lander for its Artemis program of moon exploration.
Starship will put astronauts down near the ice-rich lunar south pole on the Artemis 3 mission, in humanity's first return to the moon since the Apollo program ended in 1972. Artemis 3 is currently targeted to lift off in December 2025, but it's unlikely Starship will be able to meet that timeline, NASA officials said.
quote:
December 2025 "is our current manifest date, but with the difficulties that SpaceX has had, I think that's really, really concerning," Jim Free, NASA's associate administrator for exploration systems development, said on Wednesday (June 7) during a joint meeting of the U.S. National Academies' Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board and its Space Studies Board.

SpaceX is close to getting a working reusable rocket that is bigger than the SLS and costs a small fraction of the price
It pretty much makes the SLS and any other non-reusable rockets obsolete

Just give Elon the keys and ask him to get us to the moon.
He may do it cheaper but he’s far from making it affordable.

I remember when NASA adminstrators said that landig rockets was a pie in the sky idea. NASA doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Yeah they should just do what all of the successful space programs before them have done. Everything they need to know can be found in Egyptian hieroglyphics
