no, we do not agree — that’s an asinine notion.

I dunno, I don't care that much one way or the other, but naming US military bases after people who seceded from and fought against the US military is a little weird.
Fort Polk is a better sounding name than Fort Johnson tho.

I mean, we don't have any bases named after Cornwallis or Benedict Arnold.

that’s true. you seem very passionate about this.

No. Just find it weird .

Is there a way to enshrine these for a period of time? Say not allow another name change for the next 75 years or something.

i find it weird we would erect monuments, name streets, and commission art projects on behalf of George Floyd or other DEI heroes

They were Americans who fought for the U.S. at one time.

Idc what side of this you’re on, there’s absolutely no reason for Bragg to have anything named after him. Total loser.

What about the Americans who secede, come back, and then fight for America? I'm talking about Joseph Wheeler, the man who commanded the cavalry in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. He was a Confederate war hero, later U.S. congressman from Alabama, and then was brought out of military retirement to command U.S. troops in our war against Spain.

Who would have a problem with changing the name of a military base like Ft Gordon to Ft Eisenhower?
All Eisenhower did was win WWII in Europe and was President for 8 very prosperous years.
Pales in comparison to anything John Brown Gordon ever did.

The US was founded through secession. Funny how the difference in being a great American or a traitor is if you win the war.

We should name military bases after competent generals who served the United States.
There's no major facilities for:
John J. Pershing
George Patton
Omar Bradley
Matthew Ridgeway

Or, you know, who/what you're seceding from.
Do you suppose the Brits have a bunch of shite named after George W and the boys?

Yep, absolutely. Leave as is and move on. Stop trying to find a way to divide people.
