Besides the cluster that is the need for an additional Baton Rouge bridge. Everyone benefits from a new bridge.

It can be a new hwy exit, tunnel, bridge, border wall, levee, locks, resurfacing...whatever.

I live in Youngsville and drive Hwy 90 daily b/w Opelousas and New Iberia with occasional trips to NOLA. It beats the hell out of my truck.

Life would be better for me if they ever connect I-49 from Lafayette to NOLA. New surface. No red-lights or congestion in Lafayette would be nice. Interstate grade would be much safer of a drive, too.

What say you?

HWY90 going towards NOLA needs more lighting

Driving that shite by yourself in the dark with no other cars around is nuts

Same here but it’s a pipe dream. It’s being caught by every small town cop and every moron who lives in Lafayette near the thruway. Louisiana is such a fricking joke. How much money have we pissed away on studies on this project so far?

Nailt it.

I been preaching(mostly to the choir) that 49 needs to be complete AS WELL as 3 lanes each way on I-10 From Lafayette to Kenner.

It frustrates me when we go to the Beach and I-10 widens to 3 lanes almost 10 miles from the Mobile Tunnel and Mobile is HALF the size of the BR Metro Area. And we're JUST now widening I-10 from 12 miles of the bridge to 73(almost 20 miles out). That should have been done 10 yrs ago and this phase should be widening 10 from Grosse Tete to Sorrento.

ETA: But construction of 5g cell towers at 100% coverage in the state would probably make life a little mo better than widening the interstate

I49 does not run west/east. It runs North South. I10 is west/east.

WTF. 49 was supposed to connect Lafayette to Nola in a kinda curved diagonal NW to SE path. Lack of Funding and powerful Nimby's nipped it over 25 yrs ago and continue to nip it, with the greatest adverse impact being on truckers going between Houston & Nola and residents of Baton Rouge.

If I could somehow be driving on I-10 and be beamed through the tunnel in Mobile that’d be great.

A fleet of bulldozers to plow down the blighted section 8 areas around LSU and use the land between there and downtown for nice places that decent citizens can make thrive

true though that may be, I49 runs south thru Laffy to NI to MC to Houma to NOLA.

I seen the signs when I was bouncing up and down that shitty road, "FUTURE CORRIDOR I49". I seen it.

right next to the dead alligator when you get off the elevate portion of I49 in Amelia

The stretch of I-20 from the TX/LA line through Bossier parish is the worst stretch of road in the United States of America. That shite needs to be fixed ASAP. Hasn’t had any fixes since it was built.

Well, I cross the bridge twice a day commuting to and from port Allen, so fixing the bottleneck would improve my life immediately, and frankly my mood as well. I should be happy to be done with work and go home, but the drive frustrates me more than my work most days.
