Only way to truly fix crime is to pay the lower class to not have children.

Not increase benefits for popping out children. Most of these people doing things like this were either raised by shitty people or grew up with a lack of resources fricking with their mental state. Of course you have the occasional odd ball where a kid grows up with whatever they want and turn into spoiled shitheads. But the bottom line is shitty people need to stop having children.

Think abortion is terrible and should never happen, but sadly some of these people would be better off having abortions as opposed to raising future criminals

ETA: they just mentioned it. All they said is there was a shooting but they have no further details.

I’m not convinced this is anything more than a local thug or white trash shooting of people they know until there’s more to this story? How are the local police or locals not covering this better?

The percentage of guns per capita in the US has remained virtually constant for the last six decades.

Yet the rate of gun violence/violent crime rate has ebbed and flowed during the same time period.

People that blame inanimate guns for violence are just beyond stupid at this point.

I found that part weird too. Because after all, I have 30 round magazines, sights, flashlight, gangster grip, and other things that make the weapon more relevant for shooting in urban environments versus hunting Bambi 300 yards away just minding her business eating grass

So, if all guns in the country were confiscated and destroyed, there would be no more mass killings? People who are compelled to kill large groups of people will just change their mind?

You make it a lot fricking harder, yes. If someone really wants to build a bomb and blow up people, that requires a lot more thought and effort and thought, and time to cool down and have second thoughts. Whereas a mentally ill person with a gun can get set off and shoot 20 people like that

gunviolencearchive.org reports 32 mass shootings in the US just in the month of April alone, not counting this one we're talking about right now. I think there was actually another one in Louisville last night too, so 34 mass shootings. That's 2 per day across this country.

Do you really think that without guns we would still be averaging 2 instances of mass killings every single day in this country?

When's the last time you heard of a mass killing in the UK? The bomb at the Ariana Grande concert in 2017? What about mass killings in Australia or Japan? How many do they average in those countries daily?

It’s Dadeville. The probably weren’t prepared to handle this. Also with children involved they can’t make everything public as easily.

What’s the difference between .223 and .556 that our military uses all the time? .556 is also on public market.

I have a Colt M4 which is literally the exact same thing I had in the military with only marginal differences between the public v military rifles. I don’t have burst fire but guess what, even GI Joe does not use burst fire. So losing that feature is no big deal at all. It is a waste of ammo and destroys accuracy.

I am very pro gun rights but you need to call a spade a spade.

So, you do not own an M4, which you literally just said you "literally" own. You are "literally" lying. So a "marginal" difference is jumping from semi-auto (an AR-15) to full auto at the cost of upwards of $100k just to be able to obtain one legally? You can just say you are full of shite, its ok.

The problem is obvious: a perpetual culture of fatherless homes. It has nothing to do with guns and very little to do with true ‘mental illness’

Do you believe that if all guns were confiscated (from legal gun owners) that the period after that wouldn’t be much worse? Eventually it may get better but criminals aren’t giving up their guns.

It’s not guns. It’s never been guns.

It’s about the people and culture that holds the gun.

That culture includes the disenfranchised youth who can’t cope with being socially outcast as well as those who can’t cope with conflict and see violence as the only path for resolution.

The thought process that’s invaded our culture of you deserve this or that without hard work or failure along the way has created soft tantrum throwing perpetual victims.

The US’s violent crime rate fell more than Australia’s following Australia’s strict gun control implantation in 1996.

The fact of the matter is that Australia and the UK’s gun control measures made very little substantive difference in violent crime rates over the following two decades when compared to the rest of the Western world.

There are macro governmental policies that can affect crime rates but gun control isn’t one of them.

Gun violence (homicides) were a record highs in the middle of the 1990s and then fell substantially between 2000-2008. They then rose again between 2008-2016 but the fell hard between 2016-2020. There has been a recent spike since 2020 due to massive social unrest.

I'm not seeing that hard 2016-2020 fall... or any reduction between 2000 and 08

I imagine these stats won't be kind to your argument and will support the argument of others in this thread.

quote:

Do you really think that without guns we would still be averaging 2 instances of mass killings every single day in this country?

Considering the vast majority of those shootings are criminals who likely can't legally possess firearms, we'd still have a lot.

quote:

When's the last time you heard of a mass killing in the UK? The bomb at the Ariana Grande concert in 2017? What about mass killings in Australia or Japan? How many do they average in those countries daily?

You do realize that we have a fundamentally different society, culture, and population than those countries, right?

Look at issues outside of guns. Do you think our test scores being lower than those countries is because we are dumber, or that we have a larger underclass? What about violent crime in non-mass scenarios? We dwarf those countries there, too.

Removing legal guns from proper society isn't going to stop the underclass from acting like an underclass.

You want to stop the vast majority of these mass killings? Then you have to start criticizing lower SES people in the lower economic/trash mindset and figure out a way to break the cycle of the culture they created (and celebrate). It will probably require removal of the vast majority of children from these households, so I can't wait to see you support that.
