This is correct answer along with a culture of no consequences.

And nowhere in there did you mention the most obvious commonality in these shootings:
1) skin color/demographics
2) trans shooting up schools and public places

So instead of blaming the types of guns, why don’t you address the real issue and that’s the rap culture’s disrespect for life and how easy it is for them to pull a trigger. You aren’t about honesty. You have an agenda and you just want to remove guns but those that are murdering people will still get their guns and still murder.

Oh, I see your angle now. You’re much more interested in political talking points and racial identity than you are in the actual shooting and dead kids. Enjoy your self inflicted misery

Wut

There is more mental healthcare now. People just don't seek it out, especially from SES classes who need it the most.

Lower class mentality/culture is toxic in many ways, and you're explaining one of them.

Are you saying the Nashville school shooter needed mental health treatment? I’m curious how you would propose that?

Progressives love to talk about things they're clueless about.

Its much more difficult to buy guns than ever before, except through the black market.

When did you purchase your last firearm?

Of course, none of this true.

Gun violence (homicides) were a record highs in the middle of the 1990s and then fell substantially between 2000-2008. They then rose again between 2008-2016 but the fell hard between 2016-2020. There has been a recent spike since 2020 due to massive social unrest.

The wealth gap was present and growing faster during the periods of low gun violence.

Mental health has always been a constant.

Gun laws in the US are stricter now then they have ever been.

One variable that have an actual effect is poor economic times caused by hyperinflation and the shutting down the economy due to COVID. The bigger one however is the social shift to reducing law enforcement and punishment for violent crime since 2020.

What you tolerate, you encourage.

The obvious answer is the obvious thing.

We have more mental health awareness now than ever, it’s not that.

As a society we’ve lost all personal responsibility. The things we’ve allowed to become common place in entertainment have now become common place in our society. Rap music, video games, pornography, violent movies all combined with the loss of two parent homes and the dissolution of the family combine to cause all this.

Throw in social media and it’s a powder keg.

That’s right.

I forgot that there was no rap music, video games, pornography, violent movies and one-parent households BEFORE mass shooting started happening.

-Devolving from religion
-Broken families
-Mental health
-Society struggling to cope or handle adversity
-The internet and social media (which adversely effects mental health and arguably disrupts family time, may lead to broken homes, and such)

All of those things you listed were almost as prevalent in the periods of falling gun violence (2000-2008, 2016-2020) as they are today.

And you consider a .223 semi-auto rifle to be "military grade"?

What’s the difference between .223 and .556 that our military uses all the time? .556 is also on public market.

I have a Colt M4 which is literally the exact same thing I had in the military with only marginal differences between the public v military rifles. I don’t have burst fire but guess what, even GI Joe does not use burst fire. So losing that feature is no big deal at all. It is a waste of ammo and destroys accuracy.

The rise of mass shootings falls almost perfect in line with the increase in acceptance of violent music, video games, etc.

Mid-late 90s and continues today. We can’t be shocked when we do away with morality as a society and we then get immoral people
