You’re right...I should have thought twice about asking for grown-up advice from children. My bad.
I mean, what advice do you need? Write him letters, answer if he gets a chance to call. There's really not much for you to do here?

Prayers to him and you. Good man!

Write him often. He’ll appreciate it.
Be more worried about when he gets out and the two miles of stupid surrounding every military installation across the globe.

Would you post a pic of yourself?

The very best thing he could of done. I would recommend the military service for any young person. It will affect him positively for the rest of his life. Get that DD214. Also, in basic training tell him to take very good care of his FEET. Believe me, you cannot afford a blister or any other kind of foot injury in basic training. Depending On the severity of a blister or other foot injury you will likely get set back until you heal or if the foot problem is too severe you may actually WASH OUT.
I say this because whatever type of PT you will be doing you will be doing it wearing your combat boots.
At least this is the way it was when I went through basic training in 1974. USAF 1974-1978.

No, I won’t. Go look at your god-awful wife if you need some excitement-I’m sure she’s use to your drunk arse by now.

You sound like a joy to be around

So it's safe to say you aren't dealing with this well.
Your son is going to be fine. Just try to immerse yourself in those things that make you happy. And don't they do Christmas exodus?
