My son left for the AF

My oldest left for the Air Force at the beginning of December. Advice? Thoughts? I don’t need any shitty advice or stupid comments from anyone, as this is hard enough on a Mom. Keep your inappropriate thoughts to yourself, please.

Kinda late for that now, sir

Your kid joined the easiest branch of the military and the odds of him ever being in any serious danger are almost nil. Thousands of kids do this every week. It’s not a big deal.
You’re welcome.
You’re welcome.

I know you’re hurting and I’m sorry but what are you expecting to get here?

Air Force has the largest breasted women of any service branch. So he’s probably fine.

I’m a ma’am, not a sir...I was asking for advice from a parent’s perspective.

Honestly don’t mail him anything like candy
Just letters but don’t necessarily expect him to write back.
It’s basic training, depending on his maturity level he may hate it or enjoy it. Remember it’s a process designed to tear you down before you get built back up. He will always do something wrong, but there’s a reason behind it.
I was Army but I enjoyed my basic training. Granted I was 28 when I enlisted so it was fun to bc I knew it was all a mind game.

You should be proud. Just be supportive and stay out of the way and watch him become a man.

Be grateful he didn't join the navy?

Officer or enlisted?
Nothing to really worry about, honestly. He won’t be storming the beaches of Normandy but will be doing something meaningful and worthwhile. My mom cried when I left for the academy and thought we would be seeing combat as cadets. That’s just a mom for you.
He will be fine and better for doing it.
