He met with a "VA Advocate" who helped him previously and they are devising a Treatment Plan. He called the Camp Hope Hotline and is enrolled in a weekly group meeting. I've forwarded him and his wife all of the suggestions you guys shared.
THANK YOU All!

I’m sure someone has already mentioned psilocybin and MDMA therapy which has shown to be very helpful in treating vets with PTSD.

Well that’s all fine and dandy but it’s a CHEMICAL TREATMENT. Y’all must not know about the addicts that came from mdma therapy. I promote natural things that not only treat symptoms but, unlike US medicine, actually CURE sicknesses, diseases, conditions and ailments.

Wing T, I hope this all works out for your son.

I also agree with all the comments in here about how shitty the VA is for enlisted men. I have lost several clients over the years from suicide from PTSD that wasn’t dx or even considered by the VA.

Meanwhile, I have numerous friends that are high level officers, step below general, admiral etc and they get disability ratings etc for back pain, and assorted other bs, and retired with huge bonus and 100k plus yearly retirements to then take private sector jobs making another 150k etc etc.

It’s obscene but they know how to work the system. Once they are done with fighting men they don’t give a frick in my humble opinion. It makes fighting stupid wars cheap and easy. We need a draft just to even the . When lawyers, doctors and upper middle class kids start coming home in boxes, the moms go nuts and stupid wars get much more attention and difficult to start.

Half the battle with the VA is simply not giving up! There are a lot of advocates out there who care and will build a fire under the VA.

My stepson came back from Iraq and later Afghanistan totally screwed up. His NCO chain of command in the 101st totally screwed him over, but his National Guard chain of command took care of him and got him the care he needed. Before he died last year in a motorcycle accident, starting out with a GED, he completed junior college and got his Bachelor's Degree and got his 100% service connected disability. He helped a lot of veterans through the system with the VA.

I think the deal is that to deal with the VA (any government agency), you need to be patient, organized and keep/maintain personal records. I know several guys who need help, but give up due to the bureaucracy.

I don't think officers are treated any differently by the VA, they just remain focused, engaged, get/present the needed info in a organized manner and follow up without getting upset.

I encourage guys to keep up on and don't give up. It will likely take years and many appeals to get benefits, but just keep after it.

This is good. Nice job.
You, Dad, stay in touch with him daily.
A meeting doesn’t make it go away. But it is a good start.
It’s not something that gets away quickly if ever. Check in with him pops. He’ll need you as well.
