Wow! Such awesome news...I remember you posting about your son and his condition several years ago, and wondered recently if he had ever received a transplant.

Prayers that everything goes well!

Congrats and good luck. My aunt and uncle both got theirs in the past 3 years (both went into renal failure while escaping Vietnam). Been on dialysis since the 80s and highly compliant with it and their dietary habits and all. Although both transitioned to home dialysis so they could work, it's Life changing.

Hope the surgery and the next few years run smoothly for you and your son.

I get people wanting to be edgy and what not, but downvoting OP is absolutely disgusting.

I’m very happy for you and your family. I’m ignorant of the whole process. Why is that that he just got put on the transplant list?

Just got the visit from the surgeon. Surgery went great and the kidney is working excellently! He’s already made 200ccs of urine and he’s still in post op. We should be able to see him in about 30-40 minutes.

Surgeon said it was a great match.

It’s been a surreal day. We found out a little more about the donor and while we don’t know anything about who it is, we know there is a deeply grieving family that made the decision to provide life for several others.

Words cannot explain the simultaneous heart break and elation.

Thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts.

Will update again tomorrow.
