Have you honestly never lost taste or smell with an illness in the past?

Honestly, I don't remember ever losing smell but I've only had flu a couple times and don't have allergies or sinus issues.

Most of the time if I get sick its something dubious I ate or drank and have stomach issues.

I get I likely have the flu and symptoms are mild, but the loss of smell and the way it flipped off has thrown me for a loop.

I know. When the health department called I felt like I finally accomplished something in my life. I got counted in the Covid stats!

Mine came back over a period of 3 months. I’ve had little mini relapses here or there, but for the most part it’s back to normal. I tested positive in May.

You and me both, which also leads to the loss of taste. Just ate a clove of garlic and it was a weird-arse experience. Couldn't taste shite, but my tongue and throat burned from the spice. Tested positive on Monday, and I can say that this has not been worse than the flu, however, the loss of smell/taste especially sucks on Thanksgiving.

Silver lining is you can eat all the arse you want and don't have to wait until just after she showers.

I would eat the healthiest food possible if I couldn't smell or taste

My question is why even test if your symptoms are mild as you seem to suggest, just lost sense of taste and smell? Just curious? I would not run get a flu test....

Main reason for us is my wife woke up feeling bad Saturday so with thanksgiving coming we wanted to see what’s up before family came over. With me, I figured if I was positive as well we wouldn’t have to keep the wife locked in the back of the house for 10 days.

I tested positive yesterday. But I'm ready to eat and hopefully taste it.

Lost taste and smell for about 12 days. I tried some natural remedies, one being a teaspoon of cayenne mixed with a teaspoon of honey. Didn’t feel a thing until it hit my throat. 4 months later I don’t think my smell is what it was before.

Anonymous sources in science and stuff say you may never get it back and you’re lucky to be alive!

This is CNN.
