My question is why even test if your symptoms are mild as you seem to suggest, just lost sense of taste and smell? Just curious? I would not run get a flu test....
We had a family member stay with us one night and a few days later she tested positive. My symptoms were bad enough to figure i had covid but I had had way worse flus and sinus infections. Headaches every day was the worst part of it. Then one day I had the covid gut and was nauseated all day. Threw up. My wife had worse symptoms. All of mine with fever and body aches.
We decided to get tested bc we have a 4 month old (tested positive) and we were going to Thanksgiving with her family and her grandmother would be there. So here we are doing Thanksgiving with just our family. We didn't test our other 2 kids. Just figured they had it. But they've been bouncing off the f'ing walls the whole time. The 4 month old has been pretty fussy and has had a cough.

Why I got tested was easy. Wife is a healthcare worker and had to get tested so they could let patients know. My son (tested negative, I wanted to know if he had it) and I tested because my Dad had heart bypass surgery last summer and we had a family Thanksgiving planned that we canceled.
I'm real glad I got tested and didn't give it to him.

You have a nice kitchen.
Seriously, hope you feel better.
I tested positive 3 days ago and i still have sense of smell and taste. I got tested for the same reason as you, Thanksgiving. We were supposed to bring the turkey but now, surprisingly, nobody wants it. I feel like a wuss but have had some pretty bad body aches and fever, some mild shortness of breath, and bad throat ulcers. No preexisting conditions or extra weight, either.

I’m waiting to get tested right now. Assuredly, this is not how I wanted to spend my Thanksgiving.

I guarantee by 7pm tonight I will have a fart that will reignite your sense of smell and clear your sinuses.

Good luck, hopefully negative or if positive you don't feel to bad.

Have you honestly never lost taste or smell with an illness in the past?
I don’t ever remember losing taste and smell.

And you wouldn't, because the only time you would typically lose your sense of smell with an illness would be due to your sinuses being completely full of snot, which limits your ability to taste while that is going on. But it would return to normal once that goes away. That's not what is going on with Covid.
The "Covid is just like the Flu!" people are almost as annoying and dumb as the people who want to shut everything down because of it.

I don’t have any symptoms but had dinner with someone who tested positive. He had dinner with someone Monday who tested positive. None symptomatic.

For the people that have lost smell because of Covid how long did it last?
Two days, no smells or taste. Third day, both come back a little. Took about 6 days or so for it to completely get back to normal.
