I used to be in the same boat as your parents until I took some Master Level Courses in Coastal Engineering from Old Dominion. I can assure you those classes were not watered down.

On the other hand I found LSU's Professional MBA program to not be very challenging other than Dr Chun's stat class. So in some ways your parents are correct; they're just wrong about the online part.

If you're in BR then I would recommend going to campus because I found that the most valuable part of the program was the relationships I gained while attending class.

Your parents probably dislike you. After all, you did ruin their lives for them.

He just missed the era as a student when they aggressively posted advertisements for it on boards in various place. Dunno if that was from the get go or started a few years later.

you tell your parents our LSU-Shreveport baseball team is kicking arse too.

That's where I go and I think it's real.

Your classes doesn’t count?

What’s your grade in English (because your grammar is horrible)?

The correct structure should be "because your grammar is terrible" or "your grammar is terrible". The word "horrible" is an adjective describing a feeling or situation, not a level of quality. JS

They literally say in the promotional material it's the same degree.

MBAs are now a dime-a-dozen thanks to all of the universities trying to cash in on that cow. Having said that, your MBA sucks compared to mine who actually had to attend classes and had to take more classes -- including group projects and a thesis. I hate that my MBA was watered down because of the "higher learning" institutions implemented new money grab.

So yeah, your degree doesn't count.

I don't consider any "graduate" degree that you pay for to be bullshite.

If it's legit grad work, you get paid research/teaching assistant.

That old school mentality is painfully stupid sometimes.

That “useless” degree is just gonna have the university on it. Not online or in person on it

trying to say you got the same growth experiences and networking opportunities as someone attending classes and living on campus is asinine.

To juxtapose your point, most people with online degrees are more independent and resourceful because they've had limited help and assistance in most cases.

When I evaluate resumes and see someone has acquired their degree online, it doesn’t negatively impact my impression of them whatsoever.

The online program even helped me land an internship in NYC—something I probably wouldn’t have gotten otherwise without it. Still, they act like it’s not a “real degree” just because I’m not walking to class.

It’s frustrating, especially when I’m putting in the work and getting results.

What do you guys think?

Hell I applaud you you. I am 56 and don't think I could go the online route. I grew up in a time when this didn't exist. Learning happened in the classroom and we were wired that way. I don't know that I could train myself or be disciplined enough to sit at home online and not be distracted. Just keep you mouth shut and let them talk. When you get your physical diploma show it too them and tell them they can kiss your arse ( as respectfully as possible, they are your parents ) But make sure they know how much you are disappointed in them and walkout.

When you graduate, drag their asses to the graduation ceremony. After sitting there for hours, they will be forced to admit it is real, or you will get the satisfaction that they had to sit there for hours. Either way, you win.

You're parents are mostly right. The real truth is that no degrees count.

Except if you are measuring the angles of two lines that intersect, giving a heading in degrees, or measuring temperature.

That is a mathematics, geography, and science joke for those of you in Rio Linda.

A degree is a degree. It won’t say “online” on it.

Maybe your parents will only believe it’s real if you bring home a 19 year old coed. That should be your first priority.

Well that’s just impressively wrong.
