Why do you care what they think. Diploma says LSU.

More importantly, how do you feel on post football game traffic?

why is it frustrating you? frick them. you did the work, you got the degree. whether they honor what you did or not, the affirmations and admission of what you did as earning it, is immaterial.

you did it, you got the internship - allowing others to bring negativity to your accomplishment is not something you should allow. nor should their opinions matter.

congrats on the accomplishment.

Excellent reply. I agree 100%. My online MBA landed me the position I have now and I would not have qualified without it. But I do remember being a freshman at LSU in the late 90s and those correspondence courses being offered - they definitely were a joke.

You're parents are mostly right. The real truth is that no degrees count.

You should return your English degree.

Quit worrying what other people think - including your parents. You are an adult now. Yes always be respectful, and love your parents, but honestly what they think of the status of your degree, it has zero bearing on reality unless you let it.

Your on-line degree is legit, but they probably didn't tell you that you can only get an on-line job with it.

A. Are they potentially your future employer?

B. If not, who cares?

You’ll probably miss out on some networking opportunities by getting an online degree vs an in person degree, but the material will be the same, and if you’re willing to network on your own, or if you already have a professional network, then that shouldn’t matter.

ETA: I did online schooling for my master’s degree and it worked in getting me a promotion right when I graduated. I’ve since moved on from that position, and I can’t tell you if my degree matters or not, but I’ve only moved upwards

If you get an online degree from a brick and mortar, then there’s really no way for anyone to know it was online vs in person.

It’s a shame your parents don’t support you. As a parent I can tell you they are wrong. What I would do is drop the disagreement and keep it as a lesson how not to treat your own kids. I had a similar experience too.

Your parents are out-of-touch and have no clue how many master’s degrees are earned online these days.

Didn’t read the whole thread so maybe someone has already said this but the online school at LSU used to be run through LSU-Eunice.

I left college for a real job about 25 hours short of graduating. Around 2018 I looked into getting my degree bc I had promised my mom I would graduate and was going to do the online option so I could continue to work. I read the small print and asked the counselor about it. I was going to be paying LSU prices for tuition but my degree was going to say LSU-Eunice.

Fake degree. LSU gets paid but you won’t be able to get a job if they find out it was online only.

Why do you even care? If it's getting you where you're going. Roll on dude; ignore the noise.
