Raining Blood is pretty fast and, idk how to describe it—maybe “muddled?—and a good intro song into death metal (different sub genre, but slayer borders on it at times), so I get that they’d prefer something with a little more traditional approach.

I’d like to see how they take Angel of Death. My personal favorite, it’s got more structure, and the other guy loves looking at the lyrics.

Thank goodness he came along and ruined it. Because metal was sucking hard about that time. Cheesy as hell. Grunge saved real rock for a short while.

80s were the party decade, 90s rock was much more introspective and very welcomed at the time. We went from talking about the working class party experience to internal reflection and a bit of existentialism
80s were fun as hell but nothing can last forever.

I think you would be surprised. For some reason people assume most black people listen to nothing but black music. When I was in HS, there were black people who use to love Red Hot Chilli Peppers. We use to have these get togethers "in the woods" where people would box. And there were some black dudes who would come out and there would usually be rap music playing and they would ask someone to put on Enter Sandman or Welcome to the jungle when it was time for one of the black dudes to put the gloves on.
It doesn't matter what race you are, those songs use to get anyone pumped...

Metallica really is one of the greatest bands in history IMO, simply because they have a sound and style that can’t be recreated quite like they’ve done it.
I’m no musical expert, I’m just a fan of music so I’ll try to explain what I mean the best way I can. Their transition in songs from one type of rhythm or sound to almost the complete opposite is so smooth, it’s always made me think “wow”, they always make it work perfectly. That’s just rare creativity.
A couple of other bands that cross my mind in that way are Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, I know there are more but I put Metallica right there with them as far as creativity and musical brilliance goes. And you really don’t have to care for the music of any of those three to realize that.
