Just dropped off my Big Buddy kids and van at the church. Man those River Ranch folks are mighty fine with their “commodity” distributions. Full sized Reece’s cups and Snickers! Hell yeah broski!! I’m sure the kids will hardly notice the lack of krab legs and cokes this weekend. So at least we got that. Thank you Laffayette for another successful Trick or Treat!
Is big buddy some kind of usaid section 8 deal to ruin good neighborhoods? This is really scary

Give em a break, they're not sure how long SNAP is going to be down, so they had to stock up while they could.

Why on earth would that bother me? Practically all of the tourists were in costume, polite, and having fun. Why would I get bent out of shape over an extra $40 or so in candy?
Maybe his “tourists” were not respectful or were obnoxious and feeling they were owed instead of being thankful.
Some people like to get bent out of shape and act all high and mighty towards others. Why is that??
Also, who is dumb enough to actually spend an extra $40 more than they planned on Halloween candy for any kid? Not buying extra as a just in case more kids are bussed in. They can get there early like everyone else. When we are out we are out. Surely you made the part up about the extra $40 on candy.

My neighborhood does not allow door to door trick or treaters.
We have a trunk or treat at the clubhouse. There will be a lot of wine drunk moms tonight.

Same here but only one kid in the neighborhood. The rest have gone off to college

They love invading from the south on Halloween in DFW, the further north you go the nicer it gets.
It's in their blood

Living in Houston is already like living in Guatemala so what’s the issue?

Do you live in south Alabama? We may be neighbors

20 years ago, we had white trash roll through. 10 years ago, section 8 started coming. The past few years, the border crossers have been coming.
It doesn’t bother me one bit. If a kid wants to come trick or treat, he or she is more than welcome. It’s 2 hours a year for the kids.
If the parents are ungrateful thugs and the kids aren’t learning to be appreciative, well then I get to be a good example to these kids. I get to show these kids how a kind adult should act.
But I’ve found that 95% of the parents are nice and appreciative.
All kids are welcome during the 2 hours of trick or treating.

Might not want to pay the money for it but have the roads blocked into and out the neighborhood by officers is actually a pretty solid idea.
May still get foot traffic but it stops the vehicles

Yeah, we went down to my BIL neighborhood. Great fun. We packed a little ice chest, drank some beers and chased the kids up and down their street. The whole neighborhood goes all in.
Lots of fun!

I didn't get one person this year.
Neither did I, didn’t see one trick or treater on the block either.

One would think he would have said so, if so. He didn’t.

We buy candy based on the number of kids we expect. We don’t differentiate based on where the kids come from. If you limit what you buy for financial reasons, I completely understand. If you limit what you buy to spite children based on where they live, that says a lot about you.

Had close to a hundred. Finished around 8, but had some stragglers knock on the door around 8:30 and told em to get off my lawn.

We live in an older-skewing neighborhood. Most of the families have grown kids or teenagers and have lived here a long time.
I was really touched at how much work the older folks put into making a great trick-or-treat experience for us younger families in the neighborhood (and the hundreds of outsiders who came in). Lots of well decorated yards and houses, people sitting out dressed up on porches/driveways, pots of chili/hot chocolate, etc.

We probably had a couple hundred kids in our neighborhood in south Shreveport. We gave out candy and gumbo. We ran out of both in a hour.

We always went to other neighborhoods when I was young.
We bothered our neighbors the rest of the year. This was their one day to not deal with us.

There are never any trick or treaters where I live. You cant see the house from the road and the driveway is about a quarter of a mile long up a steep hill.
