I’ve built scale models for over 30 years. During that 30+ years I’ve always had an x-acto knife in my tool set. How the hell have you gone your whole life without hearing of its existence.

Get yourself a Stanley 10-049.
Better yet, buy 3 or 4 and keep them in different places. It is a cross between an X-Acto and a box cutter that folds like a pocket knife. They are cheap as hell, and you can replace the blades. Handy knife to have around.

I have never heard anyone refer to a box cutter as an X-Acto knife

Own several punch awls, but the X-ACTO was close at hand, lol. Must say silicone rubber dive straps are a bitch to put a hole in, not like leather at all. Got the job done and it looks and works well, but I gotta work on my technique

The Mandela effect is the dumbest thing ever. You have a bad memory or you don’t remember how to exactly spell some random obscure thing.

You are just not old enough. It’s a smaller blade than box cutter but very similar

Used one in drafting in the '80s. Nothing new.

Now that you mention it, they probably haven’t been allowed in schools in years. We used to have to have them for projects, but I bet no one under 30 or so ever used them in school.

And model building got replaced by vidja games.

Well the Mandela effect is different than having a bad memory.

It’s also not what the OP is fricking on about.

So I’m not sure how either are an indictment on the Mandela effect.

I will say, it got its name based on (apparently) large numbers of people who remember Mandela dying in prison. I have never met one person who thinks this. So it’s odd that the effect itself is named after such a bad example.
