This reminds me of a girl i dated in NOLA in my mid 20s.. she was cute, smart, had been in a sorority at LSU (for whatever in the hell that’s worth), had a masters degree and a good career.. so somewhat ‘normal’ in most ways.. but one time we were having a conversation involving black folks, i cant remember exactly how it came up, but i remember clearly her saying “I dont have a problem with black people.. I mean, i’d never let one in my HOUSE or anything, but i dont have an issue with them... “. There was no touch of irony, and she definitely wasnt joking.
Needless to say, the relationship didnt last much longer.. that conversation isn’t the reason we broke up, but it sure didnt help.

People who say the South is racist are just sheep who believe what the TV tells them to believe. I'm from Mississippi, the alleged racist capital of the world, and recently moved to Missouri. I've witnessed more blatant racism in one year here than I did in 24 years in Mississippi.
