You have to shake it because as it ages from the dairy the milk continues to breakdown and separate. Shaking it returns to it a stable consistency.

Maybe she grew up drinking fresh milk. When we had a cow the fat would come to the top of the milk pitcher and you could shake it to mix it back up.

First,

Second, you're weird for bringing this to the OT.

Assuming you actually have a GF, she isn't weird for being a shaker, she is weird for thinking that being a non shaker is weird. But mostly, she is weird for her choice of BF.

Looks like you didn’t accidentally drink sour milk when you were a kid. If you had, you would shake that mother fricker every time.

Checking for clabbered milk. My grandparents used to do it so probably handed down earlier generation.

There is an actual reason for this. Before milk was homogenized, and delivered daily, by milk man etc, you would shake it before you poured it to keep chucks of butter etc form forming on top etc. (Don’t ask me how i know this lol)

So her mom may have seen her mom do this, so she does it, abs passes it down.

No u don’t have to shake homogeneous milk

This is correct.

She probably just does it because her grandmother did, and has no idea why you're supposed to do it.

Maybe she has often had chocolate milk in the fridge, which I always shake, and she just shakes them all without thinking about it.

Shaking sour milk doesn’t magically make it better. Smell that shite and throw it away. I smell milk every time I open. I find it doesn’t come close to making it to expiration.

Is there anything the LGBBQ crowd will keep their fingers out of? Great, now I have to find straight milk somewhere.

Yep, one lumpy milk and you'll shake it the rest of your life. Mine was in 9th grade, chocolate milk in the cafeteria. Shake it ever since.

I give milk and anything else in a jug a small shake before pouring it. No idea why especially since it’s something I haven’t always done
