I commented on the facial structure of a boy in some obscure Central American painting, saying it greatly resembled the socialist realism found in Soviet paintings. I then began to explain what that was, just because I felt like it wasn't common knowledge and I forget that she was an art major -- we didn't know each other in college... she snapped at me and said that she knows more about socialist realism than me and, as a woman, is equally capable of understanding complex ideas. She then said that I was mansplaining a lot lately, ever since the engagement, and that I need to stop; its not okay for me to think less of her because she's a woman.

Godamnit THIS is how you fricking troll.

Run for your life.

She has manipulated you into thinking that she is your perfect match. Now that she has a ring, her real views will come out and you’re not going to like it.

Run.

If so, I would like to add “Fast and Far.”

To relay a story from my marriage and give a word of caution about politics being an issue:

My wife and I are Christians and have usually gotten along fine on politics, religion, gender issues, etc. I bring this up because you said you’re saving yourself for marriage, so I’m going to assume that’s for religious reasons.

Around when Trump was elected her group of friends got really SJW and it rubbed off on her some. We had some really big fights. Not that I’m an avid Trump lover or even a Trump voter, but i recognize there were a lot of lies about him that she just parroted because she saw somebody else say.

the things she and her friends were saying about him and his voters were flat out hateful and I told her she was being irrational and unchristlike. I don’t care if Trump is a horrible person, we don’t speak that way about anybody.

It finally took #metoo going way too far in accusations against men (And her realizing she has 2 boys that are going to grow up in that world) and one her friends joking about blowing up a tent of people selling MAGA gear to realize that SJWs and third wave feminism was just a way to divide people and cause hate. I’m a conservative, but my Christian principles override that. so I understood why she had some of the opinions she developed but I could factually and compassionately disprove where her facts fell short and where she wasn’t showing love for fellow image bearers. During that phase there were times where she completely abandoned reason and critical thinking.

She abandoned that mindset entirely and we’re good now but that was a rough patch of our marriage. I think you need to have a long hard conversation about where her heart is at moving forward.

This is almost too perfect of OT bait to be believable. But I believe you.

And I think you are just now getting to know her. 2 years isn’t very long

Man what if she’s sees this thread.

A blue belt takes 1.5 years-3 years to obtain; one remains a blue belt for 2-5 years usually, before advancing to purple. A black belt takes 8+ years of consistent dedication to reach. Go to a jiu jitsu gym and see if a blue belt doesn't toy with you.

And if you're more advanced than a bjj blue belt, congrats. But you sure don't practice the humility of a jiu jitsu practitioner.

Ya, we're pretty strong Christians. That's the main thing that's bothersome, that she would assume I have wrong intentions or view her as less than a sister in Christ. Thanks for your experience

She, she, she, “I felt,” “I was at a loss for words,” “I apologized...”

Dude - you’re consumed by her frame and you have zero standing as a masculine presence in your relationship with her.

In all honesty, don’t run. You’ll only stumble into another relationship that ends up with the same kind of bullshite problems.

The problem is you. Work on you, and you’ll see her realign herself to you.

I don’t think anything she said is bothersome in the vain of Christianity. Honestly most SJW issues like that do have some stances that I think are steeped in Christianity. Heck, justice that we know and practice today comes from Christianity before Marxist took the word over. The issue is that when you put “social” in front of it, you’re asking for a predetermined outcome of your opinion of justice, not what justice is.

My issue is more making a big thing out of it, out of nowhere. I’m currently in the “run” camp but I think you need to have a conversation where you talk about how this could be an issue and you’re worried about being fearful of offending her constantly. You don’t seem like an a-hole so it would be better to know if it’s something she’s going to make an issue out of.

Praying for you brother.
