My current 3 year plan allows me to tolerate anything I hate

A few years ago my really sweet job had a bunch of gray area work added to it that I absolutely despise. It all imploded last year and I just decided it was time for me to get a plan together that gets me out of this job. A combo of higher education and downsizing our financial footprint is now a plan in action. It's been a long time since I've been this content at work.
What kind of mid-life crises did you baws have that allowed you to get some peace?

Gettinf laid off randomly one day in January and using that as motivation to move out of a place I hated living, going on a month long ski road trip, and spending time with friends and family. It's been great for my physical and mental well-being, feeling great

I went back to school in my late 30's. I tried to die in my mid 30's first.

I find pleasure in simple things as I get older. This brings a measure of peace. Being content at work would be a plus, good for you. There's some wisdom in the ol' it could be worse addage.

Hiked the Appalachian Trail.

I took an easier job in the Police Department. It requires more patience, but isn't as hard on my body. I sleep soundly knowing that I can ride it for 5 years, then punch out at 54 and never have to work again out of financial necessity.

I’ve been a miserable SOB about work the last several weeks. Meanwhile one of my wife’s dear friends is having a really bad time with meningitis. It’s hitting me tonight how inconsequential these things I’ve been stressing about are. This poor girl is so nice and genuine and is fighting something she has no control over. I feel so awful for her and her family, yet it has also brought some much needed perspective about work problems.

Hotels were around $100-$150/night until I hit CO when it was spring break so $200-$300/night (had a friend who split this cost though).
For lunch on the slopes I packed a pb&j, chips, and cliff/chewy bars. Dinner was Chinese, Mexican, or other reasonably cost options. All in had about $1200 cash for gas and the food, need to look up the hotels overall cost.
Ski pass (iKon) was covered, only paid for one day of skiing at Vail and that was a buddy pass

He took advantage of a shitty situation and executed the dream ski trip.
Exceptional decision.
You can't always control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude and how you react to it.
Mad props.

Hit my early 30s and was genuinely unhappy working in education (non-teacher) and just felt miserably stuck.
Went back to school, got my Masters, and will apply for my full licensure as a therapist within the year. I’m in private practice, making far more than I ever did in education, make my own schedule, and am WFH half of the week. In a great relationship, own a house together, and am the happiest I’ve ever been.

Took ankle bracelet off and tossed it into the woods, near the same woods that I now call home. I now live with a pack of coyotes.
Fn liberating.
