My company will no longer allow personal emails

on company computer....and will further restrict access to websites they do not approve of, like guns, weapons, etc. Curious to see if they shut down access to TD...

I would never look at any of that stuff on company computers when I have a cell phone

I worked for the utility here in Colorado...you could hardly access anything on that computer. Luckily I was an embedded PM with my actual employer, so I had a less restricted laptop I could get gmail and youtube on.
My current employer IT doesn't restrict TD, gmail, or anything like that. But anything to do with guns, ammo, stuff that goes boom....no-go

I have my own wifi and personal computer setup in my work office for personal emails and internet access. Only work is conducted on the company network and equipment (company cell phone).

I hate doing computer stuff on the phone.....but I guess I need to get used to it.

Prolly the best policy moving forward....and they will allow me to access my personal email on the company cell, but not the laptop.

You should assume every email you send or receive while online at work - regardless of platform, as well as every site you visit is monitored by your employer.
It's most likely not - but they have the right to do so (if the user agreement they made you sign is worth a shite) and as such can hammer your arse if you give them an opening.

Mine shut down all personal email sites about 7 years ago. Too much risk from dumb employees opening attachments that could compromise the whole company. It’s easier to control things with access to outlook only. It sucks, but I just check my email on my phone.

Yes my company’s just eliminated personal email last week. They block anything that is gun related or alcohol related like a bar website. Kind of funny with blocking bars because we organize team building sessions at bars some times and you can’t even look it up to see what they offer.
By the way my company is based in Australia. Wonder if we work for same company or this is some kind of new IT thing.

This sorta shite has been going on forever. In fact, I've never been able to do any of that shite on a company computer.
