Since right before I moved it has been a disaster. Hoodrat service and hoodrat servers.

Also this. I was in BR a couple of months ago and decided to grab lunch there as it had been awhile. Man has that place changed. It was empty on a Friday at lunch time, and it still took an hour to get my food and eat. I sat at the bar and the lady couldn’t have been less interested in serving me.

Pluckers lost my business when you had to start to pay $2 per wing. I’ll gladly go to an establishment like that and pay $10 for 10 wings but I simply will not hand over a $20 for 10 wings when 10 wings cost $6-$7 at the grocery store.

Given the wings are significantly larger than the Walmart wings you are referring to…..that is a really crappy take.

You are like those folks who thought a quarter pounder was larger than a 1/3 pound patty sold for cheaper.

Bar food, crazy expensive menu prices, and terrible service.

The service was never great but I always thought the prices were very reasonable. I could go get a plate of wings with a side and a beer and even after tax and tip it was only about $20. I used to go there about once a week.

I thought that was just ME!

I use to go there alone sometimes and sit at the bar for some big ole chicken tenders and some fried pickles.

The last two times I went(2-3 years ago) the bartender served me dead arse last despite being there before a few other patrons. I was the only white person and I noticed it but thought there was no way she would be doing that on purpose. But Now it makes sense.

I feel like I just got acknowledgement that a Mandela Effect was real lol last time we tried to eat there we were sent away "because they closed in 30 minutes" and couldn't understand why the people before us got sat. Makes sense now

Dunno what to tell you. Unless BR both changed sourcing and uses something different from the rest the chain, their wings are twice the size of the ones you are referring to.

Doesn’t excuse the shitty service or atmosphere. But judging wing cost pretending all wings are the same is just dumb as frick.

You don’t have to tell me anything. I’m not paying $2 per wing, it’s a universal law of mine. I don’t give a single shite if you disagree based on their size. Maybe they’d still be in business if you went purchase those $2 per wings a couple more times.

Psssst. The pluckers wing model is still successful. It’s just the shitty Baton Rouge owners couldn’t manage it. They aren’t hurting elsewhere and there is a reason why central corporate cut them out. Or did you miss that part? They immediately closed because they refused to meet corporate demands to upgrade standards to renew the franchise.

Don’t confuse a couple of local places not being able to run a restaurant with your inability to realize that all wings aren’t identical.

It’s really not. The rule of thumb in hospitality is that you need a 4.2-4.3 Google rating to be a successful business, I just checked several cities in Texas and their ratings are all sitting between 3.9 and 4.1 with clear review farming to get there. 3.9 is “imminently going out of business” and what the Bluebonnet location was rated FYI. Clearly something isn’t right with their business model

And just so you know, no one gives a shite that they have “premium” wings. Wings are wings, no one is eating them to be full unless you weigh 125 pounds. Paying $25 for a 10 wing combo is not worth it

It's been a while but I guess back around 10 years or so ago, we had a four month period each year for a few years where my mother-in-law would stay with us.

It was always during basketball season, so when LSU basketball played an away game I'd go watch it there, it was near my house.

Every and I mean EVERY time I went they would not have the game on. I'd finally around tipoff ask if they could put the game on and the answer was always...."What game".

Ticked me off but honestly wasn't the only place in B.R. that I had that experience with going to watch LSU basketball games. Otherwise thought it was o.k. like the wings. Haven't been there since we blew the 18 point lead to NC State in the first round of the tournament so it's been a minute.

prices seemed a little steeper than before. Idk why they decided to do that.

Because inflation. What, restaurants don’t have to pay higher prices for rent, utilities and chicken?

Were they somehow exempt from the dollar losing value?

Truth and yeah man I agree with the poor service comment. I love supporting local businesses but man it was tough to go to this one. The wait just to find a body that is willing to seat you was always the first problem, then give it 10-15 minutes before a waiter comes to your table. The quality of the food slipped over the years for sure, regardless of what Lady Mascona says.

I was at LSU when the first one in BR opened on Nicholson. Probably 2004ish. We went there at least once a week. It was the best wings I ever had in my life.

I move around the country and ended up in Houston in 2012. A pluckers opens up near my house and it was a pretty good at first, but not as good as when I was in school.

Since then it got steadily worse as did the one by my office.

I think the franchise grew too fast and lost control of there QC. The clientele is ghetto. The employees are ghetto. The wings are different. Overall it’s just very meh. Wingstop actually has better wings and they are cheaper.
