Saturday got some bad news concerning my sister.
I dread the day more than an oweo post.
Most of the hurt is for my nephews who grew up without a Dad. shite aint right.

Lost one of my brothers 12 years ago. He was sleeping in the back seat of a truck his drunk buddy was driving. Buddy crashed. Brother died, driver lost the use of his legs.

My brother almost got killed a few months ago. He's alive but permanently injured, but he's alive and I'm more than thankful. I can't even imagine the other outcome...

Sorry for your loss.
I watched my older brother die in a 4-wheeler accident 32 years ago. He was 13.
It gets easier. It will never get "better", but you do learn to cope. Given as much time that has passed since my brother died, I no longer feel particularly saddened per se. I do think about him every day though. I hate that he isn't around to see my kids. That he never let me tag along when he went fishing again. But, I think he'd be proud of the man I grew into.
I do have about a once a week flashback to his wreck when I'm in that almost asleep/almost awake state that happens at night when I'm falling asleep. Those moments suck, but I've grown used to it. I suppose the lack of grief therapy that was available back then may be the reason it's still so present in my subconscious, but then again, I don't know that anyone could get beyond seeing that as a kid.
Also, write down all the memories you have with him. I did this in high school and it's great to read back through them at times, even if it's just something simple like him pushing me down in the hallway and giving me a carpet burn on my elbow.
Anyway, I didn't mean to ramble. Trust me, you'll do fine. It's not easy, but if I can do it, you can too.

Geez that's awful. Ive got 4 kids and unfortunately the thought of the possibility of something happening comes to me daily. Im a paramedic and that makes it even worse somewhat, just witnessing bad things happening to kids. I just have no idea how a parent copes with such a loss. No idea how I'd cope with it myself.

I'm very sorry to hear. Death isn't easy to cope with. I hope your mom finds peace, hopefully your dad already has it.

I cried off and on for days after. I could've handled the news a bit better if it was truly an accident. Tough to handle a loss at the hands of someone else knowing he should still be here running his boat.

It's been right at 30 years now since my eldest sister died in a car wreck. Just the other night though I found myself wanting to just be able to ask her advice on something.
Death is a part of the cycle of life. Can't escape it, best we can do is face it, and our fears of it, headfirst. The immortality of youth fades and we realize, any moment any of us can just...be gone

Lost my brother in a car accident almost 10 years ago and he was 19 at the time. Still hurts a lot, but not sharply...more of a dull emptiness.
Much harder on my parents though, they have held up well, but they don't make it through a holiday or almost any family gathering without tearing up. I hate the loss for me, but it breaks my heart seeing how it affects the parents.

That was 27 yrs ago. Being that young was somewhat of a blessing I suppose.
Not sure I could have handled it if I was older.
My other older sister was 19 at the time. I have no clue how she was able to cope, but it made me and my oldest sister a lot closer.
Now that I have 2 kids I have no clue how my parents were able to handle it.

Sorry about your loss bud. I have 2 brothers and can't imagine losing one of them. Prayers that you and your family have found peace
