How many of you have lost a sibling?

I can say it is a bit easier now but I still have moments when I break down. I'll never forget that day when the deputy knocked on my mom's door at 2am to give us the news.

He was 37.

I love you bro!

My momma died 1 day before my birthday this year. She had lung cancer.

I'm still sad. it's been 6 months.

My brother is a year younger than me. We are best friends and have done everything together since we were little. We played baseball together growing up, we went both went to USC, were in the same fraternity and are both lawyers. I can't imagine what I'd do if he died so young. Sorry for your loss.

I have lost two sisters. One was 17, the other was 36. I understand the pain and frustration. The hardest part about losing a sibling is watching the pain it causes your parents, IMO.

Super sad story. He was diving for sea cucumbers and his equipment failed. The POS on deck whose sole responsibility of watching both air compressors didn't do his job.

The other diver came up and saw instantly it wasn't running and he pulled his line up to find him blue and unresponsive.

He performed cpr for 30 min before the Coast Guard showed up and he was life flighted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

I could kill that motherfricker.

Sorry for your losses. Yeah, my mom is still not right.

She can't even be home because it kills her to sit still.

In 2 years she's been in the country for about 3 months and most of it in NOLA or Houston.

She lives to travel and that's all that keeps her sane.

Hope your parents get better in time

Very relatable experience, there. Parents have decided to move several hours away from the home they've had for decades, and the one I grew up in, because they have too many memories in Tuscaloosa and they don't feel like they can heal if they stay there. I think they would do better if they found a hobby like traveling or something extra to occupy their time. I may mention that to them.

Yep. Died in a solo vehicle crash on Bluebonnet when I was 10. He was 18 and had graduated from Tara not even 2 months prior. That was 28 years ago now. Absolutely tore my family apart. Dad eventually drank himself to death as a result. Mom found religion and became an emotional mess. Still is to a degree, but remarrying helped. My middle brother and I are alot closer as a result though.

I know exactly what you are going through. My younger brother was killed in a head on collision in 2009. He was only 24 years old. I'll never forget getting that phone call from my sister, letting me know what happened. I'm not an overly emotional guy, but that news had me letting out tears like a newborn baby. As someone mentioned before, the worst part was seeing my parents in so much grief. My mom was in denial for at least a week. I think it really hit her at the funeral. I can't imagine losing a child.

All I can say is life is short. Cherish your times with him and your loved ones. You never know when it's your time.
