I lost my younger brother when he was 21 and i was 24 and it happened around 13 years ago. Very few days or events pass when it doesn't cross my mind what it would be like with him there or around.
My mom has still not gotten over it.
Hope it gets better

Not a sibling, but my dad died 4 years ago this December during our first Disney trip. It was my first, his first, and my kids first, so he didn't want to miss it. He had been sick and he had been hiding early onset kidney failure. Passed out getting into the truck getting ready to leave the Disney hotel to start the drive home. Never woke up from it.
Like other say. Doesn't get better, but does get easier. Think about him daily. Miss our 5pm phone calls on the way home from work
ETA: sorry for your loss

My brother died in 2009. Not a day goes by that I don't miss and or think about him. I'll never forget the day he died. And i hate it but sometimes i forget what his voice sounds like.
I know how you feel. It fricking sucks

I think this is the part that bothers me the most about my brother being dead. He was the best big brother, and we did a lot together and talked 3-4 days a week. My boys would have loved him, and he would be been a great parrain/uncle.

Sorry for your loss, I imagine it's something you'll probably never get completely over. On a side note, I usually don't give a shite about stuff like downvotes, but for the life of me, I can't understand why someone would downvote something like this.

Time helps. 2 years after losing my brother, I was about like you. Nothing will ever take away the sadness. It's been a lot longer for me, but I still have a hard time just looking at old pictures or video without breaking down. It's sad, because I used to love looking at these things, it's just too difficult for me to do it now. Maybe one day I'll come around.

I seriously think I am starting to develop anxiety ever since my son was born. My biggest fear is something happening to him. I literally can NOT imagine how I would go on living if we lost him. Having children changes a human being immensely. The love can not be described.

I understand the pain and frustration. The hardest part about losing a sibling is watching the pain it causes your parents, IMO.
In 1974, I lost a 16 year old brother who was 18 months older than me. Flipped his 73 Toyota truck on a gravel road on a Friday night when he swerved to keep from hitting a barricade where a bridge was out. I wasn't old enough to drive so he had dropped me off at the theater that night. My parents rode in a ambulance with him to Jackson. A friend came and got me. My other brother drove home from LSU. We were heating Poptarts in the toaster Saturday morning when my mom called and told us he had died. I remember what we were doing because the toaster caught on fire while my brother was on the phone with my mom. Had to have a closed casket, so my other brother, and I, never saw him again.
My parents were never the same. They are both from North Louisiana. My brother was buried where they had plots in my mom's hometown. We moved to North Louisiana within a year.
They were normal parents that were more strict than most of our friends' parents, but they still had fun. My dad was our scoutmaster at the troop the Methodist Church sponsored, and he had always given us a long leash. My mom taught school and took care of us. We had always been Methodist. They had us at church every Sunday morning for Church and Sunday school, but church wasn't the only thing in our lives.
They started going to a few different non denominational churches and even went to a Pentecostal church for awhile. They settled on a Baptist church. They started going to church for Sunday morning Church, Sunday School, Sunday night, Wednesday night and whenever the doors were opened.
There's nothing wrong with that, but it was a huge change. Sometimes I think them moving had more to do with getting away from the bad memories and other times I think it was about them starting over. It was like they felt they needed to make a big change.

Lost brother who I was very close with due to cancer. We shared room growing up, same football teams, roomates in college etc. did everything together he was 28 at the time
that was over a decade ago and it does get easier as time passess but is something I don't think I can ever get over. I wish he could see my kids and spend time with them.
6 months ago almost lost my only other brother to a random illness, but by God's grace he pulled out of it. It was like Deja vu for me

Absolutely. I moved back home for a little while when my brother passed in 2009 (he was 24) because my Mom had a complete breakdown and my Dad couldn't handle it by himself. All while trying to deal with my own grief. Hands down the hardest part of my life.
Even 8 years later, I still think about him every day. I wouldn't ever say it gets better, it just gets more manageable. I think the hardest thing for me was balancing how to deal with how I felt while trying to "be strong" for my parents.

Been 4 years for me. Not a day goes by I don't think about it in some way.
It never gets easier. Just different.

Lost my sister to leukemia my senior year of high school. She was 7 and 10 years younger. That was in 1968. Missed a week of school. Went back and not one person said anything. I don't think people knew how to express sympathy back then. They just tended to ignore it. I was in shock and didn't even realize how lost I was. Looking back some kind of counseling would have been nice. My parents really suffered and were very protective of my brother and I after that. I know they couldn't have survived another loss. I had 5 kids and I always got scared anytime one of them got sick. Now I have grandkids and I am always so thankful when they are healthy and pray that tragedy stays away from my family.
