Congrats. Your sister is married to a closet hipster.

I think in some ways it's a healthy thing to do because it forces you to only keep the things that really matter to you. It kinda sucks to do it because you have to, though.

Why not get a slide out RV? Or a single wide 2 bedroom trailer?

On whose property does he plan on putting the tiny house on?
He'll have to buy land to put the tiny house on or does he plan on putting it in your backyard?

Why not a large camper or small house trailer? Tiny houses seem hard to build and not any better.

Hard to maintain a 6ft distance in a tiny house.

Tell him to chill. Things are going to boom when this virus runs its course. Don't panic. Have faith.

I think I’d just go with a camper if he’s wanting something quick.

You don’t need a million dollars to do nothin. Take a look at my cousin. He’s broke don’t do shite.

He works in the oil field and he thinks he is about to get laid off. He is seriously thinking about selling his house and getting a tiny house around 250sq ft - 350sq ft for him and his wife. He said with how everything is going, he doesn’t want to stress about money and not being able to pay their bills. I like the idea of going smaller and saving more money but I can’t go tiny the way he is talking about. The smallest house I can live in is probably 800sq ft with a kid. When my wife and I got married, we lived in a 590sq ft apartment and it was not bad except the one bathroom part.
Ever been in a tiny house? Lived in one for 2 1/2 weeks last month in Texas. Tiny does not describe it. Had to scoot around sideways through that fricker coming and going. The only benefit is I only slept there. Couldn’t live in one

I’ll give him $350 for his house

I looked into tiny houses for a long time, as I'm a minimalist and really don't need much space. But they are a horrible deal. The price per square foot is ridiculous and way over priced. Like people have already said, a nice travel trailer is way cheaper and has a ton more space/luxuries. You have to buy land anyway and no body finances a tiny home. You can finance a trailer or camper at least..

More power to this baw and his bawette.
I can't get my wife's stuff into a 350 sq ft closet.

He should look at full-time rv’ing instead.
I would give that serious thought if I wasn’t anchored in DFW because of split custody.

150k is a very small mortgage
No kidding
You don't need a high paying oil field job to sustain that

Sister amd her 3 kids lived in a tiny house for a year... thought she was nuts.
Understand this guys intent, but ship probably sailed already. Housing market is about to be a mess.
If he can sell his house, better off buying one of those pre-made sheds at home depot and finishing out the inside himself. Easy to do
