He will absolutely be placed in detox prior to any sort of treatment, most rehabs these days have detox facilities. The money they get from billing insurance for detox care is mind blowing even compared to inpatient stays.

I just watched the SWU video and I hope and pray that you can get your brother sober and on track. He is a tremendous human being capable of great things. He has a soul and a guiding light and is intelligent. He needs God’s love and support, and you have already showed God’s love by putting this out there to help find him. Colin’s purpose is his son. Show him his purpose and and let him know that his son will want him in his life when he can make his own decisions - which will be soon. Do not be ashamed of anything either. Every single one of us have sinned, but God provides redemption and has given us the Grace of forgiveness. Colin just needs to prepare for that day when his son is ready to have a meaningful relationship again. Prayers for you and your family.

I saw your first post here a few days ago but just caught up on the thread and watched the video. Way to go OT.
At one point your bro said “This isn’t who I am but it’s who I’ve become.” Man that hit me hard. You’re a good brother man. I’m so glad your brother is alive. I’m praying that y’all are able to bring him home for Christmas and get him the help he needs. He seems to really want help for the right reasons do that gives me hope that he will get it together. He needs his son in his life. Please do everything you can to make sure that happens.

I’m under 10 minutes in that interview and it’s hard not to feel horrible for the guy. You can tell he really wanted a relationship with his son. Sampson, please keep the OT updated. I think what he’s saying is that he may need to go to detox in LA before staying a night or two and then getting on a flight to Louisiana. Maybe not...

Okay...before yesterday I didnt know this thread even existed but I am all caught up now. This is an incredible story and so glad Colin was found and hope he is filled with a passion and desire for recovery and redemption.

That's what I was thinking. The airport and getting on a plane(especially this time of the year) if someone is used to being hi everyday seems like it would be hell on earth.

Sampson, I just watched the video. This goes to show that even though the OT is full of assholes, they do good work when bonded together. Still good people in this world. Nothing but the best for your brother and your family.

Have to assume they have some sort of plan from here and it’s not just “hey dude go dry out on the plane.” Hopefully he is responsive to it, and honestly getting to see that video might’ve given some insights to where he is mentally right now and how to help manage him.

That video really hits hard. I was homeless in Honolulu for a few months and it still took me several more years to finally get sober. Hope Colin can come through this. Sampson I wish you were my brother man. You are a damn good one.
