My brother almost got suspended on America Day...

It's homecoming week, and yesterday was America Day.
Evidently, you could wear anything patriotic, so my brother (we'll call him Dan) wore American flag swim shorts (I know, the horror) and a Trump shirt from the election. The shirt had Trump's head on the back and "Build that Wall" on the left chest in fairly small print, not even noticeable really. He said people were wearing Trump masks, Trump hats, Trump shirts, etc. and we live in north LA so no surprise lots of trump support.
During his 3rd block (class/period/hour/study for those who can't get past this term), he was pulled from class and called to the principal's office. He then got berated with questions by the assistant principal because a young lady in his 2nd block came to the office balling her eyes out and told them that Dan said "she needed to go back to Mexico where she belonged". The AP told my brother that was a racist comment and would not be tolerated at her school. She had two witnesses (the girls two best friends) and all three are Hispanic-American (in other words, American) according to Dan. Convenient. The girl also called her mom who then proceeded to tell the AP she feared for her daughter's life in returning to school the next day.
Not only did my brother not have a defense because of the "witnesses" according to the AP, but he also said he has never even talked to any of these people and only knew who they are from that one class. He denied it completely and adamantly. And was threatened with suspension because he was obviously pissed. He said he figured out what it was all about when the AP asked him to stand and turn around to reveal the back of his shirt and pointed out that "Build that Wall" was offensive to some.
In the end, neither party was deemed at fault or in trouble somehow which is completely beyond me. I would fully support my brother being reprimanded if their was proof he said something of the sort. I would also fully support and even encourage the girl and her friends being punished for making that crap up. Thats bullshite if thats the case. Regardless, if I was the AP/school and had to deal with all of that yesterday, SOMEONE would be reprimanded. Because now you either have a racist verbally assaulting young girls, or a liar(s) slandering people who they disagree with just to get them in trouble.
What gives OT? Is this the kind of shite that we just say "welp, better get used to it because thats how it is now?" Or is there still hope to rid of PC culture ? There is no chance that this situation would have played out the same even 10 years ago when I was in high school.

Huge problem in out country on both sides. You can accuse anybody with anything and the worst that can happen is you won't get your way. We need to start punishing people for their actions.

I think my son has that same shirt...does it say "Can't Stump the Trump" on the back by any chance?

They should have been more specific. They could have easily been referring to continents.

I got into a fight when I was in high school. I'm white, the other guy was black. We got sent to the office. The other guy told the principal that I called him the N word (which I hadn't). Even though he had no one to back him up on his claim, I was suspended for 3 days, and he didn't get in trouble at all. It happens

I wonder how this would have played out in a school like Denham Springs...

If you're wearing a Trump shirt that mentions building the wall on it, I think it's a safe assumption to say that at some point in your life you've said something about those darn Mexicans and how they should go back to Mexico.

Bro, your brother got off easy in this case. Take the win and call it a day. It was the word of 3 people vs him, and they still didn't do anything to him.

Kid probably knows next to nothing about Trump the president. He knew damn well that his shirt would get attention and it backfired. Boo fricking hoo

Far from it. But something like "go to back to Mexico where you belong" to a girl who is American but looks Hispanic, yeah that's pretty racist and I don't like to call things racist

Lying about what someone did while having a friend be a witness is a tactic that people don’t use nearly enough these days

your brother is an idiot
