I’ve had old teachers say this before in response to “no problem” and it’s really agitating.

He should learn to say it in Russian or Chinese.

I once worked with a guy from the NE. I used to say “I am telling you...” as a lead in to whatever I was about say. It was a common phrase at the time. One day the guy fricking exploded on me with “you ain’t telling me nothing!” Sometimes, even in English, sayings get crossed.

Your boss sounds like a fruitcake. I'd go the Chick-fil-A route and start saying my pleasure

The same people who say no problem are the same ones who call their supervisor boss man. They also "drag up" when they Resign.

I've been known to give a couple 'No problems' everyone once in awhile....
But lately I'm sticking with 'My pleasure'
I'm not sure where I picked it up from?

You have no idea the stress and pressure your boss is under. I suggest "your buddy" do what he's told.
If his Sensitive Sally boss has time to go off and bitch about an everyday phrase that people always use, then he has too much time on his hands and isn't under enough stress.

My boss told a colleague to stop saying “no problem.”
Come to think of it I do hear this all the time and I didn't in the past. I love how new sayings and phrasings come into the lexicon. I do see the bosses point but he must have had a bee in his bonnet.

People who get angry about this should only be angry at god for giving them such a low IQ
