They love electrical wires
My cousin had a one and that damn thing chewed up every cable in the house.

When I was a kid, we raised rabbits.. 4H shite.. I remember one of those bastards bit the shite out of my leg. I really don't remember how it happened, I might have scared it, it was in my lap, but I would steer her away. You put it in a cage, take it out every once in awhile, make sure it has food and water. Low level shite, which might work. Talk her into wanting a duck, but if you go that route you would want to get at least 2 ducks. They are somewhat pack animals, but they are more entertaining than rabbits.

Friends in Houston had one that was smart and affectionate to his owners. He was litter box trained (and rabbit poop is excellent plant fertilizer).
Just make sure your neighbors don't have beagles.

I had one briefly as a kid and it bit me. My grandfather didn't trust it since he had been killing it's kind his whole life.

Although they look snugly….they are not. If socialized well, they will tolerate you, but they are not loving like a dog. When they aren’t in the mood to frick with you they sometimes scratch or bite.
Also, since they are herbivores, they pretty much eat constantly. This means 50 lb sacks of food…..and a ton of rabbit shite that you will have to dispose of.
Not the worst pet I have had, but there is a reason they are not too common.

Try out a Guinea Pig first. They don’t live that long and you will be able to tell how responsible she will be about having a pet you will have to take care of.

They have to eat their own poop to stay healthy.
Look it up.

You're going to kill the rabbit and then you'll be the devil for like a week. I'm so happy to be beyond this stage, and also a little sad.

I'd brush up on reading comprehension if I were you.

For me, Pierre the rabbit was a good circle of life pet, if you know what I mean. YMMV

I’d say no if going to be caged outside and alone. Eventually forgotten about. Also, rabbits are alot of work. They need timothy hay daily along with their food to keep things moving. I got mine spayed bc they stay in continuous heat and then die from cancer or other complications. Taken care of, they can live long lives. Inside, they can be litter trained (special litter, of course. Found that out the hard way using cat litter and a long vet stay bc of a blockage). They can actually be sociable and friendly. If you must get a rabbit, get 2 and be sure you get them fixed.

Do get it, don’t eat it!

Our bun was what they call a “meat rabbit.” He was huge and so dog like. He enjoyed our company and sought us out for attention.

There is a scene in an old made for TV movie called Eunice based on the Mama series in the Carol Burnett variety show, it is after mama dies and Eunice finds out from Ellen (Played by Betty White) that Mama killed her rabbit to cook. It is part comedy and tragic at the same time.

What are the dos and don’t’s here?
The biggest don't is, don't do it.
I did it for my daughter's birthday when she was 7, got her two.
She loved them, best week of her life, they had names, beds, you name it.
A week later, she came to me because Minnie Mouse wasn't moving.
It was stiff as a board, so was Micky. I quickly picked her up then sat with her for a minute while I thought of the words I'd say next.
Her only response was... "But why?", then the tears.
She's 20 now, but that day still haunts me.
